Map Progress Update - Bridges, Trains, and Signs
Good evening Patreon supporters. The early beta is out and many are playing the map, finding things that need attention, as well as setting up some pretty impressive farms! Other than the usual of minor cosmetic things, the map seems to be performing well with no large issues at this time which is great news! Here is an update on some of the things that have been in the works while many are testing out the map.
I've been working on my Blender skills (which are pretty poor at this point) and working with the new texture system to start adding things that are custom to the map. I started by replacing the temporary bridge (just a flattened and elongated cube with collisions) that you have been driving over with one that is authentic to the road in real life. This bridge was a little challenging since it actually arches upward. After completing that, I needed to redo the roads to make them better line up and approach the bridge at the correct angle. I'm really happy with how it all turned out and think you will be as well. I was able to get traffic working on the map as well.
A train has also been added to the map, but will require me to completely retexture the engine and cars. That will happen at a later time. For now, it is functioning and error free. The two gravel roads that it crosses don't have stop arms; they just have signs warning oncoming traffic. I was able to model the signs to make them look really close to the way they do in real life. I'm trying to add every detail possible to make the project feel immersive. Check out some of the comparison pictures, but please, please, don't call the number and report an issue : )
I'm really happy with progress and testing so far. I'll keep working and keep fixing things as they come up. There's a long list of things to complete, but it is full steam ahead!

i know its early but could you make sell/production points arround the map that will be awesome.
I just started messing around with it yesterday and have to say, you're doing a really nice job. I found the location on google maps and drove thru street view of the areas just to get an idea of how the land is and its very similar to the map. Keep it up!

How can we get these updates on our beta versions of the map or is that something that will come when we get to the next stage in the testing process?
These updates will come with the next version. Releasing versions the way I do to prevent leaks is a time consuming process. I will only do it a couple times before the project is finished. The next version will be a large step forward from the early beta.
