Early Access: Dark Science - Act Four

So once again (because I forgot), I'm retroactively adding act breaks into the archives on Monday. Act 4 goes from DS #103 (Kim going to build Ling a new arm) all the way to DS #155 (Kim and Ling smooching). There will also be another illustration inserted in between DS #155 and 156 for Act 5 coming soon!

Senna, would you consider adding links to the acts on the Archive page? That would be super helpful for re-reads of the story.

It's in the works! This is actually what we're planning for tomorrow's update!

I spy with my little eye a peculiar-looking lantern.

Getting big 80's/90's anime "lingering shots of power lines and side streets" (GitS, Serial Experiments Lane, etc...) and holy fuck I love this so much!

Aw yeah, Gleipnir—the unbreakable rope! Someday I'm gonna have to compile a concordance of all the proper nouns in DS & their various mythological origins.

If it helps, the big ones are usually from The Prose Edda, the Book of Enoch, or The Lesser Key of Solomon

It's a great chapter illustration. I'm missing the Act 3 illustration. Can you provide the Dropbox URL for it?

Aaaaand that illustration immediately cued up "Ghost City" from the Ghost in the Shell OST in my head...

I love this because a friend just said it reminded them of Angel's Egg. So clearly I'm channeling some kind of Mamoru Oshii vibes

More like GAY-pnir amiright?? It's a beautiful illustration, it's nice to just let this sort of thing stay and be taken in instead of jumping to the next panel sometimes. And even though obviously the people who live here aren't rich, there's such a welcome lived-in feeling in densely-built places like this that have been so heavily modified and custom-maintained by the people living there.
