The thing in the woods
Fun fact: the... thing? in the woods that constantly haunts Kim is based on a recurring nightmare I had for years as a kid. It's pretty much the only autobiographical element in Dark Science. Even as an adult, drawing the scene where it touches her face was a struggle.

I don't like that thing
I absolutely love your use of shadow, black & white imagery, and color all mixed together like in these panels. Really gives a better feel for what is happening in the panels.
Yeah, that was seriously creepy. Congratulations for managing to draw that. That had to be really difficult to work though.
it's genuinely the most visually upsetting sequence I've seen in your work to-date, that childhood fear really comes through! it reminds me of one of my own childhood recurring nightmares about a dark forest with tall trees
Totally worth the struggle though!
I thought the whole story was autobiographical! 😜 I've been fooled this entire time!
I always had the Grey Man. I would be in a building that was a mash-up of all the places I knew well, and he would be walking slowly but surely towards it. I would run out and hit him with everything I had at hand, but it would only ever slow him. I knew that if he got in then bad things would happen. I always managed to slow him enough that he never made it before I woke up.
But did he look like Nick Cage?
Man! That is intense! Whew!
