Soulmates, destined to slay giants together. (I hadn't noticed that Ling changed from not being able to hold the ancient clothes at first, I'll have to re-read for that. Curious, which parts have always been true for both of them and which have changed after meeting...?)
It's also worth considering that what Kim is talking about and what Ling is currently experiencing may not be the exact same thing

At first I wasn't sure what the relevancy of the first 4 images was. Eventually though I realized that at some point Kim's discarded clothing stopped disintigrating when held by Ling.
