35K FAQ

About me

Who are you?

I’m OneOfTheseDays, also known as OOTD.
I mainly create custom content for The Sims 4, with a strong preference for skins and Sim creation.

Where does your username come from?

From the Foo Fighters song These Days!

How long have you been creating CC?

Officially, I’ve been creating and publishing CC since the beginning of 2024.

Why did you start creating CC?

I’ve been a video game fan since childhood and I’ve always loved drawing. Creating CC naturally gave me a way to combine two of my passions: gaming and art.

But I also owe a lot to ThisIsThem.
Their creations showed me just how far skin creation for The Sims 4 could go and that motivated me enormously to learn, experiment and improve.

Do you actually play The Sims?

YESSSSSSS! And I love it.
All of my skins eventually become characters in my own game.

My gameplay mainly revolves around one large family mostly made up of women. It’s basically a slice-of-life storyline with a slightly spooky atmosphere in the background.

What are your other interests?

Drawing, Japan, vintage toys, music and Buddhism.

What do you enjoy about creating skins?

I love the idea of spending hours working on a completely flat texture and then suddenly seeing it come to life inside a game!

It almost feels like creating your own cartoon.

My creations

What kind of CC do you create?

Mostly skins and Sims.
I also occasionally create Build/Buy content.

Where can I download your CC?

Most of my creations are available right here on Patreon.

A very small amount of my older content can also be found on The Sims Resource and SimFileShare, but Patreon is the main place for new releases, updated CC and my current work.

Do you create your skins from photos?

Yes, mainly.
I spend a lot of time browsing Pinterest and Bellazon, looking for faces that inspire me.
Sometimes inspiration comes from somewhere completely different: a movie, someone I see in the street, a photograph...
Creativity can come from pretty much anywhere.

What does your creative process look like?

I usually start by doing a little shopping trip through Pinterest and Bellazon.
I also own a camera, so sometimes I take my own reference photos when I come across something or someone that inspires me.

Once I have all the references I need, I open Photoshop and my 3D face model and start working on the textures.
And while I’m working, there’s almost always something playing in the background: YouTube videos, Buddhist teachings or Japanese music.

That has pretty much become my usual creative environment.

What software do you use to create your CC?

Mainly Photoshop & Blender

How did you learn to create CC and how did you improve your skills?

I started simply because I wanted to add more things to my own game.
I’m extremely picky when it comes to the appearance of my Sims, so I started learning how to create exactly what I wanted to see in my game.
I’ve improved my skin-making process by working on it almost every day for more than two years, with only a few rare weeks of vacation.

There really isn’t a secret behind it: lots of practice, experimenting, mistakes, curiosity and doing it again and again.

Do you ever want to go back and change your older work?

Yes, very often! And when I really want to... I do.
I regularly update characters I’m particularly attached to, such as Louise, Alexis and more recently Charles.

But I’m also trying not to look at my older work only through a critical lens.
Those creations represent what I knew how to do at a particular moment in time and they are part of my evolution as a creator.

If there’s an older skin you would love to see me remake, feel free to tell me. I always find those suggestions interesting!

Can I ask you for advice or tutorials about creating CC?

Yes! I really wish I had more time to share that side of the process with you.

One thing I would especially like to show people is that creativity, whatever form it takes, can be learned. There is nothing magical or unreachable about learning how to create a skin.
You start somewhere, you practice, you learn new things and little by little, you improve!

Patreon & Early Access

How does your Early Access work?

I’ve simplified it a lot over time.
At the moment, there are only two active tiers: Supporter and Full Access.

The Full Access tier gives you access to all of my new CC almost two months in advance.

Why is your Early Access so long?

My Early Access period is long, I know!
But I also create a very large amount of CC.

Because of that, there is always a constant rotation during the Early Access period: while new skins are being released for Full Access members, older skins are becoming free.
So there is regularly new content available for both paid and free members.

What do I get by joining your Patreon?

First of all: my gratitude. Seriously.
Whether you are a free member or a paid member, please know that I actually look at the usernames of the new people joining every day. 💜

In terms of content, Full Access members immediately get everything that is still in Early Access from previous posts, as well as everything new that is released during their membership. And I release a lot of skins!

Custom / OOAK skins

What is a custom or OOAK skin?

There is a product available in my Patreon shop that allows you to order a custom / OOAK skin. This means I create a skin specifically based on your request.

Please keep in mind that custom commissions are often limited or temporarily closed because of the amount of time they require.

You can always contact me to ask whether I’m currently accepting new orders.

Can an OOAK skin be released publicly later?

Only if you specifically ask me to do so. Otherwise, the skin remains private.

Using & sharing my CC

Can I share your CC with other people?

Yes. I’m not going to monitor what you do or don’t do with my CC.
Once something has been released, whether it was previously paid content or is already free, I don’t see it as some sacred object that needs to be guarded at all costs.

I do this mainly because I enjoy it, and I deliberately try to keep unnecessary stress as far away from my creative work as possible. So yes: you can share my CC.

Can I recolor your creations?

Since I mostly create skins, the idea of recoloring them is sometimes a little unusual 😆, but yes, absolutely!

Can I edit your CC for personal use?

Yes. Do whatever makes you happy!
If one of my creations inspires you to experiment, change something, or explore your own creativity, then I’m genuinely happy about that.

Can I convert your CC for another age, gender, game or platform?

Yes, under two conditions:
Please credit me for the original creation, simply out of respect for my work and only use creations that are no longer in Early Access.
Other than that, have fun!

Do I have to credit you when I use your creations?

I would really appreciate it, but you are not required to credit me just because one of my skins appears in your game, screenshots, stories or videos.
What matters most to me is that you enjoy using my characters and creations.

Can I use your CC in screenshots, stories, videos or machinimas?

Yes, absolutely.

Can I use your CC in monetized YouTube videos or streams?

Yes.

Downloads & help

Why do some downloads contain several files?

Files containing OOTD / OneOfTheseDays in their name are my own creations.

When a .rar file is included, it generally contains the Tray Files, sliders, presets and some additional CC used on the Sim, such as teeth or contact lenses.
If you want the Sim in your game to look like the one you see on my Patreon, make sure you download everything listed. And remember: Tray Files go into your Tray folder, not your Mods folder.

One little tip from me: create a separate folder specifically for your sliders & presets. It’s extremely useful for avoiding duplicates!

Do you provide the other CC used on the Sims shown in your previews?

Yes! At the bottom of each publication, you’ll find a CC List containing the different items used on the Sim.
If you download and install everything correctly, your Sim should look as close as possible to the one shown on my Patreon.

One of your CC items is broken or doesn’t work. What should I do?

Simply contact me by DM or leave a comment under the relevant post.

Can I ask where another CC item shown in one of your previews comes from? (WCIF)

Of course! It doesn’t bother me at all. As long as there’s a tiny bit of politeness involved, obviously... lol. 😆

Collaborations & contact

How can I collaborate with you?

I would honestly love to receive more collaboration offers!
Whether you are a small creator who has only recently started or a well-known name in the community, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
You can reach me through DMs, comments, email or Discord.

Can I contact you privately?

Of course. You can send me a DM or ask for my email address in the comments.

Where can I follow you and see your upcoming creations?

Mainly here on Patreon.
I also use SimsFinds, and occasionally The Sims Resource.
Other than that, I don’t use any social media at all, either professionally or personally.

AI & creation

Do you use AI to create your CC?

I don’t use AI directly to create my skins. However, some of the references I come across on Pinterest may be AI-generated, especially as this type of content has become increasingly common on the platform. When possible, I prefer working from real human faces and photographs.

I still try to focus on human faces and fairly natural or mainstream kinds of beauty, because I prefer keeping that cute, human quality rather than aiming for faces that look artificially perfect.

For Build/Buy content, some decorative images or artwork I find online may occasionally be AI-generated.

Values & community

Why do your child Sims always wear underwear?

It’s simply a personal ethical choice. When creating child skins, I always keep underwear as part of the texture. It’s just one of those boundaries I’ve chosen for my own work and it feels right to me.

Are you someone who cares about social issues?

Yes, 100%.
Black Lives Matter. LGBTQIA+ ally. Safe place for everyone.
It is extremely important to me that my art can represent everyone.

To me, having a creative ability wouldn’t mean very much if I couldn’t also use it to represent different faces, bodies, identities and people.
I want everyone to feel welcome here.

What’s next?

What’s coming next for your page?

I’d like to find a simpler way to share some of my “unsorted skins”, skins that started as crash tests or experiments, but turned out too good to leave sitting in a folder.
The problem is that I don’t always feel like creating a full promotional preview, several swatches and an entire polished presentation for every single one of them. And I think it’s a shame to leave perfectly good skins sitting forgotten in my folders just because of that.

So I’m thinking about a monthly little event called Skin Bin Sunday: one swatch, one simple CAS screenshot, and the download.

Welcome to the Skin Bin: too good to delete, too random for a full release.

Thank you

Are there people you would like to thank?

Yes. First of all, Clo, who has been my number-one fan since the very beginning. 💗
And of course, my 35,000 current followers. 💜 I never take for granted the fact that so many people have decided to follow what I create.

Thank you as well to my family, my best friend Lexie and the creators who trusted me enough to collaborate with me, including SMSims, whose work I think is fantastic.

And more generally: thank you to everyone who downloads my creations, leaves a comment, drops a little heart, or simply quietly uses my Sims in their game.
That’s ultimately why I create all of this.

Love, B
