The StoryTime Series: Tennis
Happy Friday, Anomalies!
First order of business: A huge shoutout to my lovely cousin Geneva—aka The Convention—for gifting me the most beautiful Happy Hour glass in the world! It absolutely made my day. Thank you!
Second order of business: I LOVE tennis. I don’t play (and probably never will), but it found its way into my life very... very... late. I was never into sports—ever—and then suddenly, poof: subscriptions, obsession, nicknames, the whole nine.
Pro tip: don’t text me during matches.
My dream retirement? Attending all four Grand Slams and traveling the world to watch tennis live.
This StoryTime is about how I fell in love with tennis, and it all began with the legend herself—Ms. Serena Williams, the G.O.A.T.
I didn’t get to say everything I wanted about Rafael Nadal because my phone died but let me just say: Brian was the first person who introduced me to Nadal, praising his warrior spirit, heart, and grit. After watching his later matches and witnessing everything he endured—especially the hip surgery—he’s become one of my heroes (right up there with Serena, of course).
I was bawling during his retirement ceremony. I still can’t believe I only got to see the tail end of his incredible career. Ambidexterity at its finest. True legend.

I remember your dad taking us to the Chula High tennis courts making us play with him. Haha
