About Update 0.8.3 (Rosarium)

Hello everyone! In version 0.8.3 (Rosarium), we've brought Rose's romance storyline to its finale, put a lot of work into optimizing build size and memory usage, and continued refining Journey after the big 0.8 update.

Today version 0.8.3 (Rosarium) enters alpha access for our Professors

Here's what's changed since 0.8.

Quests & Scenes

  • Added the final quest in Rose's romance storyline, with new dialogue, illustrations, and a scene with different variations.

  • Added a new illustrated scene for the first test of the portal ring.

  • Added Gallery entries for new scenes with Rose and Audrey.

  • Proofread and corrected dialogue, and updated translations.

Shops & Outfits

  • Added 5โ€“6 outfits each for Tom and Grace. Yes, Tom's turn has finally come!

  • Expanded Lillian's wardrobe with 4 more options.

  • Updated the clothing shop's loading logic so it no longer keeps all of its assets in your device's memory.

Journey Map

  • You can now end a run from the map and keep your accumulated rewards at any time outside combat. Walking back to the portal felt like an unnecessary chore, since the route was almost always safe. We'd love to hear your ideas for improving this mode.

  • Reworked world terrain generation. For now, these changes apply only to the ice and pixie worlds.

  • Added new hex tile variants for the ice and pixie worlds to make their landscapes more varied.

  • Fixed path generation for quest locations that could become cut off by obstacles.

  • Removed the pause when revealing fog on the map.

  • Fixed minor bugs in the adventure selection panel.

Balance & Resource Gathering

  • Roughly halved gathered material requirements for quests and construction projects.

  • You can now leave Match3 early and keep the resources you've already gathered.

  • The Match3 results screen now shows resource names.

  • The resource window now shows resource names as well.

  • Removed the extra delay before collected resources fly to the counter.

  • Fixed crystal behavior and tile flight animations.

New Game+

  • Unlocked Journey cards, recipes, acquired equipment, and your equipment selection now carry over to a new playthrough.

  • Your current deck, saved builds, and last selected difficulty are preserved.

  • Purchased outfits and completed tutorials carry over.

  • Remaining resources and compensation for quests and projects are retained. Outfit costs are no longer refunded as resources, since the purchases themselves carry over.

  • The story, relationships, and world unlocks start over.

Saves & Interface

  • In the browser version, you can save the game to a file and load it from a file through the in-game menu.

  • Added save export on Android: choose a save and write it to a separate file for easy transfer.

  • Fixed an issue that could leave save files incomplete, and added handling for damaged saves.

  • Fixed speaker names and text colors in dialogue history. Narrator lines will no longer be attributed to characters.

  • Fixed the inventory window size, which was causing panels to overlap.

  • Added chibi characters, except Audrey, to the loading screens.

Audio

  • Expanded audio for Journey enemies. Almost every enemy now has its own set of sounds for effects, taking damage, and attacks.

  • Added and refined sounds for selecting, spawning, and discarding cards, receiving rewards, and editing decks.

  • Added Journey ambience; the mode's music now starts on the rewards screen.

  • Expanded sound design for the opening days, meetings with Elizabeth, and dialogue with Audrey and the mentor.

  • Refined audio in Rose's and Lillian's scenes, as well as the ice elf monk scene.

  • Fixed repeated sounds when selecting rewards and sounds playing for already-used map events.

Fixes & Optimization

  • Fixed reward rerolls when all cards in the preferred selection had already been shown: other available options are now considered.

  • Fixed the initial display of the discard counter in battle.

  • Fixed the first line when starting a scene from the Gallery and audio restoration after the scene ends.

  • Fixed some transitions after story battles that could break the dialogue sequence.

  • Applied a potential fix for a Live2D animation issue on ARMv7 Android devices.

  • Reworked character, scene, and world loading so their content loads as needed. Updated asset packaging, UI and character atlases, and texture compression.

Thank you for your support, and enjoy the game!
