[Release🔥] NEO GEO AES Classic Mini for PC
Your support allows me to dedicate more time to this work, so if you haven't yet, please consider buying me a coffee here ☕ 🤗 Supporters will also get the covers pack ready to use tomorrow morning!
🔰Frontend Features
Quick Navigation: Use the alphabetical menu/shoulder buttons to quick browse games.
Video Options: Choose different aspect ratios/add or remove scanlines.
Pre-configured Retroarch for the best balance of speed and accuracy.
Customizable BGM: Set background music and adjust volume levels within the menu.
Save States Manager: Dedicated save state system featuring screenshots date and time (save states screenshots are finicky with this platform).
Music widget: During Attract mode (to customize BGM, go to "resources\sounds\bgm")
Rewind and FFW option available.
Auto detection of games: simply put your games files and Covers in the correct folders (try to use the NEO GEO AES set from the Internet Archive).
Multi-language: Support for several languages.
Advanced users can set FBNEO as their core modifying only one line in settings.json.
🔰Quick Setup - get it working in no time!
Add ROMs: Put your games into "resources\games", please use .zip format.
Add Covers: Put your covers into "resources\covers", please use png or jpg.
Cover names must match the roms's.
🔰General Use Tips
Saving: In-game, press L3 + BACK/Select to save. The "4 slots" system can auto-increment, allowing you to pick your state directly from the frontend later.
If enabled, you can rewind and FFW using the combo L3 + LT / RT
Press shoulder buttons LB/RB to jump to letter.
Controllers: This works best with Xinput gamepads (Xbox, 8bitDo, etc.).
If using PS4/PS5 Gamepads you should be using DS4Windows or something similar.Try using optimized cover packs only. Since this is basically a web app, using unnecessarily big images may hurt performance on your computer.
If you're using 1440p or something different than 1080p/2160p you should disable scanlines in the menu and/or use Retroarch's shaders directly.
You can easily get the full set from the Internet Archive, just search in Google for "NEO GEO (AES) internet archive.
If you like this project, please consider supporting me ☕ with a coffee or a video review so I can keep improving this and other apps!
This is only a frontend it DOES NOT include any rom files.

forse sbaglio qualcosa ma scaricando questi ho solo l'emulatore senza giochi ?? in tal caso dove trovo tutti i giochi?
hi i cant seem to get none off the cover arts to load on n64 or neo geo even download your arts covers no luck
hello! you need to check your images have the same exact name as the roms and place them in the covers folders, there's nothing else to it. BTW, if you need to rename your covers, please check the renaming tool I created: https://www.patreon.com/Exodus_cl/posts/release-classic-155889403
hello, is there a datfile with info on correct romes needed anywere ?
The app simply scans for zip files, you can get the AES set from the Internet Archive 👍
Is there information on how to do the cover art somewhere?
Just add any AES set of covers and make sure the covers have the same Rom names, if you're a supporter you can download the ready to go pack I shared some days ago.
Hi. I can’t get controller to work on steam deck. Using proton to launch it, it runs fine but can’t get it to detect steam controls (which is super weird)
I'll soon start working on ports for linux, not sure when though as I only do this on my spare time. For the moment you may try mapping your controller inputs to keyboard inputs, you will be able to make it work for the frontend and in game.
I'm getting problems extracting this classic on my win 11 pc desktop with the windows built in extractor. I have long files enabled in group policy but i continually get MANY files saying the path file is too long. I'm worried it will be missing key files and something won't work - I never had any problem extracting the same way with any other mini classic. Please see my image with my errors: https://imgur.com/a/jPvegmU edit: Using 7zip instead of the default windows 11 extractor fixes the problem - wonder why?
Hey! Those are mostly the shader files from Retroarch, please use 7zip to extract and let me know!
i think i found a bug if you change the core in the .json file to "coreFilename": "fbneo_libretro.dll", i get incorrect romset error. If i run manually run retroarch.exe -L ".\cores\fbneo_libretro.dll" "..\games\aof3.zip" its good but through your frontend app it isnt launching right, its says its missing all the roms. so i think the game rom isnt getting passed right. IDK somehting is funky. I can provide logs if it is helpful. Also, i sent you a coffee.
Gotcha, I'll try to reproduce the issue, did you use a different set than the recommended?
Great work man, i love these little frontends. Also, why do you use an overlay for the scanlines rather than a shader like oscc-scanlines? Curious is all...
Hey! I use the overlay because it's the most compatible and standard way, also doesn't require much power to run, power users can just disable it entirely and use shaders from RA directly.
you can use FBNEO flyers found here if you need covers: https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo-extras/releases/download/latest/flyers.zip
That's Perfect Thx.
Incredible work, awesome!!!!!
Hi where can i download the correct covers for this release ?
Hey, there are many places, but I'll release a pack tomorrow. Regardless of where you get them, try using optimized cover packs only. Since this is basically a web app, using unnecessarily big images may hurt performance on your computer.
Congratulations on another great release! I've shared info about your frontends on both Reddit and X. I hope that's helped spread the word. I don't have a large following, but I trust every little bit helps. Concerning publicity, have you tried reaching out to Retro Game Corps or TechDweeb about doing a video? Quick idea, since this seems like a good entry-level project for newbies. How hard would it be to make a USB drive autoboot into a particular frontend? I want to gift these to all my non-gamer friends, along with a set of controllers, so they can share the retro goodness with their families.
