Better World Select | Change World Order & Hide Worlds
Better World Select brings a complete overhaul with a brand-new UI, giving you full control to customize the World Selection screen exactly to your liking.
Every feature is optional and can be easily toggled through a new in-game settings menu, so you can tailor the experience to fit your playstyle perfectly.
ANIMATED CLOUDS UPDATE:
Better World Select: Animated Clouds update (version 2.1) brings a brand-new visual effect to The Sims 4, making the in-game world maps livelier than ever before!
Worth knowing: You can use Animated Clouds with any custom map overrides!
This update also brings quality of life improvements to the Better World Select mod.
Custom world order is now saved per save, allowing you to create a perfect setup for each individual gameplay.
The Preset Manager allows you to save and load your customized combinations for quicker setup in new and existing saves.
MAIN FEATURES:
Fully Adjustable In-Game UI: Every feature is a toggleable option within a new settings menu, right in the game! No more choosing between different files — just turn on the features you want.
Brand-New World Editor: A new editor screen lets you easily reorder worlds using drag-and-drop and hide any world from the list by simply clicking the checkmark next to its name.
Prioritize Played Households: Automatically sort worlds with your active families to the top of the list.
Resize the Worlds Grid: Adjust the size of the world grid using the + and - buttons in the new in-game UI.
Always-Visible World Names: An optional option to make world names permanently visible instead of only on hover.
Adjustable Tooltip Style: Choose whether you see the standard description or the vacation world description in tooltips.
Auto-Hide Unowned Worlds: Worlds from packs you don’t own are no longer shown, creating a cleaner view.
HOW TO USE:
To access the new settings menu and configure the World Selection screen, you must be in Manage Households or Move mode. The configuration options are not available when traveling.
HOW TO INSTALL:
There is now only one package file.
Place the SimMattically_BetterWorldSelect_v*.package file in your Mods folder.
CONFLICTS:
This is a UI mod, so it will conflict with other mods that modify the World Selection screen visuals.
What about UI recolors?
That depends on the creator, but you can usually use both if my mod loads first. Visual inconsistencies might happen depending on the recolor, but functionality should be fine.
🚨 IMPORTANT: To ensure compatibility, make sure my mod loads before any UI recolor mods.

Hey Matt, I still can't get the world order to save when I into live mode. I actually did a complete folder refresh (deleted my old Sims folder and let the game create new ones) with nothing else but a freshly downloaded copy of the mod. No other mods, CC, or old save files. Testing with just that - it still won't save going from world manager to live mode. I've had it for a long time with no issues, but did get a new laptop a month or so ago. Is it possible that it could actually be something Windows / other on the new laptop that's causing the issue?
(I'm stubborn, I really like the mod, and I want to figure out how to make it work for me again lol. I'm just not familiar enough with how mods actually work to know what might be causing an issue.)
Hey! I love this mod but I was wondering if you would consider (if possible) if you could add a feature to make certain worlds vacation worlds (or the ability to move the world to the destination tab)
Hi! 😊 First of all, I just wanted to say that your work is amazing. I really love the quality and detail you put into your mods! I had a quick question about the Better World Select mod. I especially love the animated clouds feature, it looks absolutely beautiful in-game. Would it be possible, in the future, to have a standalone version with just the animated clouds? I personally don’t use the other features, but I would absolutely love to use that visual effect on its own. Of course, I completely understand if that’s not possible, I just wanted to ask and thank you again for your work! 🧡
Since the patch - changes to the world order aren't staying saved. It reverts back to the default. It's saving the preset and I can reapply it, but then it's right back to default
I'm having this issue as well! If I hide worlds or change the order of them and save it, the next time I start up the game it's reverted back.

I’m getting really tired of comments claiming my mods don't work just because the person didn't bother to read the post from A to Z — which already contains the answers and clues to all those questions. There are also multiple comments below that have received specific answers, so I believe users can find everything they need by just reading. From now on, any comment saying "the mod doesn't show up in my game" or "it crashes my UI/I can't click on anything" will be removed. I don't want new members to be confused into thinking my mods are broken when they aren't. I'm keeping the comments on for my Patreon posts because I want members to be able to voice feedback, requests, and potential ideas for improving my mods.

Hey, I've thought up an idea: since I'm using your animated clouds update in conjunction with 20th Century Plumbob's map replacements (https://www.patreon.com/20thCPlumbob), I'd like to see a tilt-shift Map Mode camera which subtly zooms in and out and subtly pans across the map, following the cursor. Also, could animated birds, animated airplanes and animated hot air balloons be around the corner?

so is the world that get hide away feature still active, and NPC townies from those world apear in other world or they will also be hidden til display again?
Better World Select only hides world icons from the selection list; the NPCs are still allowed to appear normally.

Im trying to hide britechester but it always returns. Not instantly but between sessions. Sorting works just fine.
Does this mod allow you to rename worlds? If not is it compatible with midnitetech's rename world's mod?
You can’t rename worlds with my mod, but it’s compatible with mods that do that :)
One question, when hiding worlds, does that also hide NPCs?
The world is only visually hidden on the World Select screen, and this change doesn’t affect the gameplay.
All of your little touches just make my game feel so brand new :)

Hey! To see the loading order of your mods, just open the "View Custom Content" list in the game settings. This shows exactly how the game loaded your CC and mods. If you want to change that order, it’s all based on alphabetical naming and how deep the files are nested within your subfolders. I recommend experimenting with it yourself to see how it changes!

That's not a bug caused by this mod specifically. This is a reported bug that has been happening for a very long time. I'd try googling it.

Hola! Just wanted to thank you for all your hard work, your mods are life savers. If anyone has an issue where the selector doesn't load, it's because of ui recolours. Make sure this one loads before it <3
Just popping in to say I was having launch issues and when I put 2.0.2 in a clean Mods folder with cache deleted, it still fails to launch the game. Was able to launch until a couple days ago.
Update to say the mod wasn't having issues, I kept looking around for what was happening and somehow a handful of my mods have 0kb file size... this being one of them. Replacing the file has fixed this. Sorry about that!
You make alot of great things but this has to be my new favourite, love having my favourite worlds up top and love the zoom feature. It's helpful with my 52 year old eyes!

I can see that Selvadorada and Granite Falls are on the Residential World - that means we can live there too?
You need a seperate mod to make them residential. I think Zerbu (IIRC) is the one to see for that)
I love it so much, but I believe it somehow conflict with Zerbu`s Venues mod :(
Lovely. I just recently updated for the first time in a year, and this is a life saver. I no longer have to go into Zerbu's World mod to change the order (which was a huge PITA since I had to check the S4 Tool forums for the updated world codes, and it even gives me the option of the other mod that no longer shows a certain world. That last one was a great mod too, but it was fiddly and was not stable enough to use with your go to saves. This is a crucial UI mod. Thanks, SimMattically.

I've been waiting for such a mod FOR YEARS! 😭 Thank you from all my neurodivergent heart that NEEDS everything sorted and visually clean. I have just one question: will the changes be applied to all the saves or can I have different worlds settings in every individual save file?
The change will be applied globally to the whole game, as saving per save isn’t reliable with the system I’m using. :(

Love your mod! But unfortunatly even if I click "Save " button of your mod, my changes doesnt stay :(
I need more details about it, if you need my help. Do world bubbles change in the background while re-ordering the list? Do they stay rearranged after pressing the Save button but get reversed to the default order upon visiting the world selection screen again? At which point does the problem happen? Do you have BetterExceptions and get any report while using my mod?
