Just watched last night and came back to this essay. Not acquainted with American history well enough but would be curious if you could tease a relationship between Sears and Acme. They seem to still hold a positive reputation that isn't solely substantiated on nostalgia.

once again I'm second-screening the video essay and I had to stop and visit patreon to like it. I'm still wrapping my heads around the threads of all that you touch on, but, wow.

Coyote vs. Acme was a really good movie, I usually worry about critical reception for movies with stories behind them but I'm fairly confident that this one would've done well critically even if it released normally. Even my dad, someone fairly uninterested in the culture surrounding film, was surprised to hear that Coyote was shelved, calling it the punchline to a joke 60 years in the making. Also, great American historical lesson. I'm genuinely shocked at the threads you're able to find in even the most seemingly unrelated things in film
