I’m excited to play this game again it must be said, but this is the 4th time Starfox/Star Wing has basically been remade. I actually love Assault for the admittedly cheesy plot and Command did interesting stuff. I want this game to be a series again, not just a new hat each time.

I'm the fanboy who's score-chased all the prior versions endlessly and I feel like this update was made for me. That said, I can't argue with the criticisms here, particularly about overall legibility and damage feedback. While playing the 3DS version may have cramped your hands, the depth-perception and old-school damage flashing really made everything clearer.

great memories from the original, it's funny it's the Marty/KC series of vids where I even found out there were other games in the series, guessing it's gonna become way more of a thing going forward

Anyone else think Fox in the Switch version looks like the MC from the movie The Fantastic Mr Fox?

I only ever played the original to death on the SNES when I was little, but never got 64 or played Adventures or even Command, but that makes this feel "made for me". One thing I agree with is knowing where to shoot the enemies being easier on the older versions. There were a couple of bosses I got stuck on because the feedback wasn't clear enough at first that I was shooting the right spots and it took so long for me to figure it out while dodging the enemy fire. But this is also a game I can replay endlessly for some reason. It really scratches an itch for me, just like the original SNES version. But now I get the additional gameplay types and story with the (IMO) amazingly perfect visuals.

As someone who played the hell out of the original as a kid and loved it, I was basically nodding along 100% with your review going "Yeah, sounds about right." I don't think the game is worth full price, but down the line with a discount it sounds like it's worth picking up.
