Ugh. Great essay. At least we’re at the point where we can feel sad about Pixar’s lost potential. Disney will be very happy to get us to the point where we never thought anything could be better than the latest well-crafted unnecessary sequel/content extension of the year.
Another great episode Mr. Mooney! I always learn something interesting from your videos and look forward to them. I try to share them out as widely as I can (to my very limited social circles).
Hello
Great episode Darren! My head cannon says toy story ended at 3. Seeing Andy grow up with me across those three movies was an incredible experience. It's perfect trilogy in my book.
This brought me back to the video you put out close to two years back with Disney cultural fracking their IPs through live-action remakes. I guess it's not as artistically bankrupt with sequels, but yeah— My film history isn't quite as apt. I would want to see Pixar succeed, but with Disney's meddling... With your previous video on Obsession and Backrooms, maybe there's an animation challenge waiting on the horizon? But it wouldn't be the first time. God knows Don Bluth's tried. And then the box office screwed over The Iron Giant...
Mmm, melancholy, delicious melancholy.
What a great exploration of Pixar's history through their movies, particularly toy story. Stellar video
Thank you! Proud of this one.
Don't forget Disney told Pixar to make their newer movies less gay. Especially in Lightyear, that actually got a lesbian couple, and Inside Out 2, where Disney was worried Riley's new friend would make it look like she had a crush on her.
