200+ Hours Later, Marathon Is Among My Favorite FPS Games

I uninstalled and gave it a negative review on steam when they dropped the 4th map. Blocking solo players from playing the new content on top of the obnoxious pvp focus were unacceptably garbage ideas. The art design is awesome, the gameplay loop is trash, bungie has fallen.

I have no desire to play this game but enjoyed this essay. Hoping it helps it to find a good audience.

I genuinely thought the tornado was in game for a minute… but if I played shooters, this would’ve convinced me to try Marathon so there’s hope! I think this seems destined (pun not intended) to end up as a very “sweaty” game, with a fairly small but intensely dedicated (and profitable) fanbase.
