Unfortunately it seems like an imitation of TTYD having less content and flashy style probably just comes down to not having the budget and backing of a first party Nintendo game. The Pit of 100 Trials is probably braindead easy to copy given it's as said a deliberately boring and repetitive enemy rush with everything down to the boss being either a reused enemy or a recolour of them. Also kinda funny how the storybook hero teaming up with the dragon who's his usual nemesis against a foe that's hijacked his shtick is more Super Mario RPG.
Ah yes, Lovecraft's actual pet cat.
To be fair, it's his mother who named it. She later was institutionalised for the rest of her life along with his father, and he was raised as a girl by his aunts. Explains a lot, really.
