Weapons is one half of an amazing movie. It completely falls apart at the halfway point, and I can't remember being that bored by a movie that had previously had me riveted. The more you see Gladys, the less effective she becomes, and it really just deflates all the very meticulously created tension.

Really enjoyed Alien Earth. T Ocellus forever. Weapons was a hoot. Also happy to have Fallout back.

2026 looks like an even better year for movies. One movie that I'm really looking forward to is Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. Based on the trailer, I actually want to see it...and I usually avoid horror movies.

I'll never understand what people see in Zach Cregger as a director. Barbarians was a few decent ideas thrown into a blender of mediocrity and Weapons was more of the same, adding in a premise that is so incredible as to be distracting. And by incredible, I mean "not credible." It only makes any sense as a narrative if you ignore how society functions. Its basically just Longlegs with a better ending. It would be a 1/5 movie if not for the final scene on the lawn, which made it 2/5 for payoff even tho its basically just a 12 year old Rick and Morty joke repackaged for a horror movie. I get the feeling that people who love that movie are more movie people rather than horror movie people but even then I just can't begin to see what anyone else sees in this movie. I am especially frustrated by the popularity of Weapons because it overshadows the best movie of the year, and one of the best horror movies of the decade so far, Bring Her Back. It has so much similar to Weapons minus all the hype. A sophomore effort from a director who's first had some potential but really lost the thread across the runtime, except the Phillippou brothers understood where their last film had faltered and fixed every issue with it. I'm as jaded a horror viewer as can be and there are moments in that movie that absolutely rattled my spine. The final shot of the movie is one of the most hauntingly beautiful moments I've seen in theaters.

Haven't had a chance to see Weapons yet, but Bring Her Back was one of my top theatre-going experiences this year.
