Lol. The ending. Pfft. Had me laughing.
"You look tired, Yahtzee. Why don't you take a nap right in front of this wonderful pavement in front of this bus stop?"
Oh god, Marty as Gendo Ikari is disturbing. In seriousness, if Yahtzee’s theory of the Game Awards being about praising the establishment holds any water, then Clair Obscur might get robbed. It’s a game from a kiiiinda niche genre, made by a small team that broke off from a bloated triple-A company to make a genuine work of art. The ‘look what you can do when unshackled from the mega corp’ narrative might not sit well. I honestly think Yōtei will win, just because it’s considered safe.
Wait. How is any of this a "bloodbath"?
One of the little things I appreciate about you guys is that there isn't the need to push a single "party line" on certain games - so we can hear eg Marty and Yahtzee debate back and forth on Donkey Kong Bananza and so enjoy/appreciate/mock it all the more.
Hentai golf video review when?
I really hope Blue Prince does better. I absolutely hated how Clair Obscur fucked with turn-based combat.
It seems pretty clear GOTY is going to go to Clair Obscur. So I don't think it's going to be much of a bloodbath even though I think it should be more hotly contested given the quality of all the games nominated. The only nominee prediction I could see being wrong is Ghost of Yotei. You're probably right, but I wouldn't be surprised to see KCD2, Blue Prince, or Split Fiction taking its spot. I personally think KCD2 and Blue Prince deserve it over Ghost of Yotei.
