A very fun piece. Frankly I was a bit apprehensive about seeing Furiosa, my personal coping mechanism to survive the world is to try and stay away from the bleak, especially when I know it’s a prequel to a film that begins with a post-apocalyptic hellscape! However, you make it sound like there’s more than enough to explore and resonate with to give it a look (and I can always go back to Fury Road for catharsis), thanks as always.
I hope you enjoy! I had a great time with it.
Hm... I wanted to "complain" that, now that Darren does his own edits, the "God I love that nose..." comment would have deserved a reference to the 1968 Asterix & Cleopatra movie (itself referencing a Blaise-Pascal-quote) - but judging by what I can find online, this movie seems not to be as iconic to English-speakers as it was to me. (Shame. There would have been an interesting sidebar there...) - Darren: If you don't know it yet, please, treat yourself to that classic (I hope the English translation doesn't suck).
Oh, I'll add it to the list.
"Might be a bit of a quick one". *looks at run time* Sure... Also: take care of your health, Darren. We'll wait a couple more days if needed.
Much appreciated!
Dot & Bubble is a great companion episode for this (great) piece. Feel better soon, hope cannes didn't feel like your own mid-apocalyptic journey...
Loved “Dot & Bubble” so much, and a nice illustration of the “vibes” that seem to be in the air.
Loved the review but didn't expect it to go so philosophical, greatly appreciated. Recommend changing the title of the video, makes it seem your saying the movie is mid tier at a glance.
Darren, came across this after watching this vid and remembered your fondness for this Renner/Cruise drama: https://www.avclub.com/jeremy-renner-mission-impossible-kill-character-1851518191
That should be a season of Ryan Murphy’s “Feud.”
Thanks for this Darren, it helped clarify a lot of my thoughts on this kind of stuff❤
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed!
