Following up (part of) what I couldnāt say last episode, if the paternity test is validated then another of Stevenās failings was that heās entirely missed the childhood of his own natural daughter. He was of course angry that his wife had abandoned him and returned to her childhood home, and after six years he was presumably confident the IVF attempts had failed, but surely it was least worth testing at Ramonaās birth! More on this after episode 8!
Apparently the role was written with JDM in mind. Megan Park and JDM are longtime friends because their respective spouses did several things together (notably One Tree Hill). JDM said in one of the PR pieces that when the script arrived it already had the Joe role annotated as āJeffrey Dean Morganā.
The kid buying all the popsicles at the counter is his IRL son (with Hilarie Burton).
