I recommend to watch Broken of Love if you want to see the mother in a different role. Also a Mother but the storyline is different.
Evidently there are those who are saying bad things about the show? I saw a response by the director. Pretty long. I didn't read it all but he is being blamed? I am bipolar2 and my partner could not deal with me and cheated on me and then left. This topic needs to be spoken about but with knowledge and sensitivity. Chan and Key and Key's family are doing well in portraying the different sides. Trauma when young is so difficult to handle and move forward
The episode was well-written, too powerful and amazingly played by actresses. It is hard to watch some scenes and not to be affected by what's happening. IMHO, this show, this episode could have been better/more powerful if I could properly understand the family dynamics - I feel like I am robbed from throughly relating to the story. If there are any Thai fans in this comments' section, please kindly explain: is there any translation misses/losses for the interfans? Are "second wife", "big mom" phrases the correct interpretations? As far as I know, Thailand does not support multiple marriages and for the older tradition Mia Noi, I am not sure if everyone lives under the same roof. Let's say it is the case here... How come no one recognised how Key's mom treats Key - I think the mom left her in remote places so many times. Her mental issues were known, how come the father did not properly address the issue? I loved how they shared info about Key's therapies after the incident but what (clearly) happened repeatedly before that and how all people in the large household turned a blind eye is not believable for me. Yet, the whole episode shook me to my core. Also... Another topic... Welcome to hypocrisy in entertainment industry... Again, if there are Thai fans here, please let me know if the warning announcement exists in every show especially the ones with all heterosexual couples. I feel like that entry announcement with "we do not promote any life style" is pretty clear. Yet, I do not see any such warnings (aside from the usual rating labels) in any other shows from any other countries (regretfully, including mine) which displays an equal warning statement on blood, guns, suicide, rape, violence, drug abuse, etc. But oh that life style... God forbid, all else is game on but life style...
I love the reaction as always.
Can't wait to watch your recap. This was as intense of a GL episode you are going to find, and Bonnie was just amazing. I think Bonnie was perfect as Dokrak, but her acting here is unreal. Her emotions, her facial expressions, the inner turmoil, and up until the last second all with a smile on her face forcing things down or keeping them hidden, just really spot on acting by a great actor. So if Mama Chan/Sun knew about Key's history than so did Chan right? Or she found out during that photoshoot too? I can't imagine Chan didn't know Key's history before that since it seems it's easy to find out, Jay knew about Key's family and now the Mom did, but if Chan did know how could she not understand from the jump that Key's nightmares and drifting off into space moments is a result from that? So maybe Chan didn't know? At least not until the family meeting at the end of the episode. That was the only part that kind of threw me this episode. Other than that Chan really is stepping up for Key and Key tried so hard to keep a smile, but Mama Chan is a powerful force. Really great acting episode for everyone involved.
I really felt bad for Key and Chan this episode. I wish both of them would wake up and smell the trauma instead of burying it. Chan should know that being disrespected, schemed against, gaslighted, and even physically hurt by her mom releases her from her filial duty. And Key needs to open up to her girlfriend instead of keeping it all inside. I can't wait for Mommy and Auntie to get their comeuppances.
True. Though it seems Key is really good at hiding her feelings. I mean her sister, and all of her family thought that she had moved forward from the trauma she had from her Mom's death. So Chan not knowing the depth of Key's emotions, especially when Key shoots Chan down every single time that Chan asks if she's alright,is kind of understandable. I wish Chan had gone to her family after the first or second time that Key had nightmares, but she believed Key and thought a fun photo-shoot would be a nice suprise. Key is a very complex character and her running away makes total sense in trying to protect Chan.
This is my favorite episode of the series. It's so emotionally complex for pretty much all of our main characters, and that's my jam. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the first few episodes with the more straight forward romance/relationship drama. (I am a GL fan after all, we love love) But this episode gave Key and Chan's relationship a lot more depth than we could see before which makes me buy into their story and depth of their love more. Thanks for the reaction and the chat at the end. See you in the next one!
Hey Meesh & Dee, I am so glad that I joined your Patreon community! When I watch the episodes I always think of what your reactions would be, always looking forward to it. Thanks for this reaction and your powerfull insight on mental health, it is a very important topic. A proudly South African fan :)
I love when the after talk is extended and shows how much the conversation this type of shows can bring to the table. Bonnie has been owning the role through and through. This was so intense and she was amazing. Also Emi acting Chan's feeling of helplessness when Key is in distress kind of got me. Like, seeing your partner going through that and not being able to make that pain go away. I'm really enjoying this series. The cast is phenomenably talented. The chemistry is clearly there. Music is great. It looks amazing. This episode was a culmination of everything they have been showing since episode 1 in every aspect. The details in this story go all the way back since episode 1. It might not be on my top5 series ever but I still think its a really good series. I find myself excited everyweek for the next episode. I might not agree with every choice but again, I think its nowhere near the worsts series ever. Personally, I really like it.
Crazy how they all re-use the same houses or Condos for GLs lol I remember this house from Dangerous Queen 馃槄
Look, I can't lie, for a HOT second there, I genuinely thought Key was gonna try to push Chan away by sleeping with Jay. And I figured Jay might go along with it, like "fuck, if I can't have Chan back, I can at least break up her new relationship for funsies". And if I'm completely honest, I was looking forward to it 馃槀馃槀馃槀 I was also about to be really disappointed if Jay did what Chan's mum wanted, but she maintained her "best character in the show" streak by telling that bitch to get lost 馃檶馃拝 I still don't really understand why Chan loves Key, it doesn't feel like we've seen that. But I enjoyed that Key's trauma was explored a bit more in this ep, and that she got a bit more depth. I also thought she might have a split personality for a second there, which would have really been a rollercoaster?? But it seems like the writers just went for a pretty straightforward approach. It's giving Affair, when Pleng bailed on Wan.
Key is a really loveable character that is completly devoted to Chan and has been for 10+ years, so not too hard to love Key. Sometimes I question why Key loves Chan, but Chan picking her up that night was really very impactful to her. Personally, I think Key is the best character on the show. She has a pure heart despite having witnessed one of the worst things you possible could witness and still be able to be a productive human in society. But Jay did the right thing when she figured out that Chan's Mom is basically homophobic, despite both of her daughter's being very gay. Tough luck for her. :) But Jay is doing the right thing, she obviously was teasing Sun and Key, but Jay staying out of the Key/Chan relationship is probably the best decision she has made in years.
