If you're watching in iQIYI app not in browser, there's a settings to switch into Dolby Atmos for better audio, the audio issue happens to me too and I just explored the settings and found out that the Dolby Atmos audio was not automatically set, you have to set it manually. Hope it helps! :)

We start the series and the episode “once in a blue moon” with a little flashforward: Chan (played by Emi, of course) is going the he Porsche which in parked in the underground parking lot of her hotel, “The crescent”. She gets in and touches up her lipstick, but gets startled as someone in touching her car. She gets out again to scold the two lovers who use their car as makeout base, and tells them to do it somewhere else for ex ample in a hotel room. One of the ladies claims it’s none of her business, while the other – Key (played by Bonnie) keeps staring at her. Chan claims that she owns this place, and tells them if that if they don’t want to use a hotel room they can spend the night in jail instead. Chan gets in again, and the lady wants to go as well, arguing that this is ruining her mood – but Key doesn’t want to go and tells her to leave instead – she doesn’t want to go out with anymore. The lady disappears frustrated, and Key gets into Chan’s car, and tells her she wants to be her sugar baby, and to be adored by her. She claims she’s good at pampering, and pleads with her to take her. She puts her hand over Chan’s eyes, arguing that the other night, Chan stopped talking when the lights went off, and she thinks that Chan prefers it when it’s dark. And then Key kisses Chan, with Chan soon responding, and them starting to undress each other. Chan claims that she still hasn’t told her why she got the moon tattoo (Key has a moon tattoo on her chest). Suddenly, Key starts crying, and Chan asks her why. After the credits, we go back two days, as Chan is managing the renovation of the 11th floor and tells her assistant Game (played by AJ who was Ton in “23.5”) that she doesn’t want guests on that floor while the construction is ongoing, and they shouldn’t cause any noise after 6 p.m. She adjusts the nametag of another employee, claiming first impressions are important. Game the tells her that Sun is waiting for her in her office. She greets her twin (Sun was the main character in “My Only Sunshine”, and is of course also played by Emi) who argues that she has to go to a gala party tonight, but doesn’t want to go. She’s exhausted from filming for three days straight, and wants Chan to go to the party as her, and argues that they did it in high school where Chan performed as Sun. But Chan claims she only agreed to do that because she was sick. Sun wants to know if she is not interested in being a singer, and argues that when they were young, Chan wanted to be a singer, and Sun wanted to be an actress. But Chan is content with managing the hotel, she claims, and Sun claims that’s why she mother’s favorite: she always does what she wants her to do. Chan wants to know if she’s finished, but Sun still wants her to go to the party with her. Chan claims she doesn’t like to talk to the press, but Sun claims there will be of lot of pretty girls at the party. But, then she gives up and starts leaving. She gets a call from “J” after Sun leaves but doesn’t pick it up. Key meanwhile gets at text from someone claiming to take her to eat delicious food. She takes her jacket and guitar, and say goodbye to her cat Simba, asking it not to sleep all day. She enters a café, orders an iced matcha and sits down in the guest area where Jay (played by Film, of course) is already sitting. He sits down one table over, tastes her matcha, and is delighted at the taste of it. Jay finds her reaction funny, and Key just stares at her, prompting Jay to ask if she wants to say something to her. Key claims that Joy is cute, and Jay wants to know is Key is hitting on her. Key goes over, but claims it’s just a compliment, and Joy returns the compliment. Key knows, she claims, because otherwise Jay wouldn’t look at her, but Joy claims that she smiled because she has never seen anyone get that excited about food. Key argues it tastes really good, and offers her a sip and asks for a new straw, but Jay just takes a sip from her straw. Key argues that the always eats there before work and claims she’s a regular there, and Jay thinks she will become a regular customer, too. Key hopes they will run into each other often. Key asks her her name, but Jay claims she will tell her, when they become acquaintances. And Key hopes they will as she returns to her seat. Chan runs into Key and her band getting ready to play as she enters the bar of her hotel and gets herself a drink. Then, Key introduces her band “The Petal” claiming that it’s their first day performing at “The Crescent.” Chan notices Key as she is singing a pop tune. Later, Chan gets a text from “J” claiming that they miss her, and asking for another chance. But she doesn’t react to it and sips at her drink when another text arrives from “J” claiming they really want to see her. Chan ignores that as well, which is when a guy takes a seat next to her, and asks her if she is Sun, and she claims she’s her big sister. The guy calls her by name and starts hitting on her, but Chan apologizes and relays that she only likes women. But he keeps hitting on her until Key comes over, calls her honey, and asks the guy if he wants to say anything to her girlfriend – causing him to give up. Key wants to know if she’s okay, and Chan confirms it thanking her. Key wants her to buy a glass of wine for her, and Chan immediately order a glass of wine for Key. They cheer, and Key tells her her name and that it’s her first day there. Chan claims she is a great singer, then notices her moon tattoo, and claims it’s pretty. Key knew she would like it, and claims she really likes it herself. Chan asks why did she get the tattoo, is there a particular reason? But key claims that if she wants to know, she needs to come with her. Chan argues that Key is quite flirty and wants to know if she uses this line a lot, but Key claims she uses it only with her, and calls her by her name with Chan never revealing her name. Chan wants to know what she will get if she goes with her, and Key replies she can give her everything that makes her happy. Chan accepts it, but only for the night. Key asks what if she gets addicted to her? Chan wants to know if she’s that good. Key doesn’t reply directly but claims she likes her lipstick, it makes her want to kiss her. Chan gives her the go ahead, and this turns into a heavy makeout session, with Key claiming why the rush, but Chan arguing what else is she waiting for. The next morning, Chan gets ready for work and notices a blemish on her lip that resulted from the heavy makeout the night before, which she remembers in all the details, then covers the blemish up with some lipstick. Meanwhile, Peach (another character we know from “My Only Sunshine”, played by Jenny this time, who was last seen as Medsai in “Enemies with Benefits”) is having a photo shoot and is not happy with the model who lacks the confidence necessary for the brand. Sha wants to change the model but the brand specifically chose her, then she wants to give the assignment to other photographers claiming she can’t continue to work, but the brand asked specifically for her, so her producer volunteers to talk to the model. Then, Key arrives a greets her enthusiastically as Peach wonders when did she get there, Key claims she got the while she was rebuking her client and claims she was scary. But Peach claims she doesn’t need to be scared, because she will always be gentle with her. Key wants to know if she isn’t afraid of losing her client, but Peach claims she’s not doing this for money, it’s just a hobby. Key claims that she is the no-to photographer of the top actress, meaning Sun, but Peach claims that they’ve be working together do often that they are practically friends. Key then wants to know if she knows her twin sister, and Peach claims she has met her a few times, but doesn’t know her personally. Key just wants to know if she’s seeing someone, but Peach doesn’t know because she is hard to approach and very private, totally different from Sun. Peach wants to know why Key is asking her about Chan, and Key claims she is just curious and thinks she is pretty. Peach then tells her that this Friday, Big Mom wants to hold a birthday celebration for Dad, and asks her if she wants to go home (revealing that they are sisters). She claims they really miss her and want her to visit them. And Key lies that if she doesn’t work on that day, she will go. Peach asks her to let her know if she’s coming. Chan is negotiating with Phu (a friend we also met in “My Only Sunshine”) about the rent for an Omakase restaurant he wants to open in the hotel complex. He argues that he deserves a discount as her friend, but Chan argues that doesn’t consider anyone doing business with her to be her friend. She pressures him into accepting her terms, and eventually, he relents. He then tells her about a reunion party of their college classmate next month, arguing that they haven’t seen their friends from the States for a while, but Chan isn’t interested. Key comes home where Simba already waits for fer, but is apparently pissed that she was gone all night, so she doesn’t accepts cuddling. She argues that it was just one night, and suddenly it seems that is isn’t taking about Simba anymore. We get a flashback of said night, when Key brought Chan some water after the deed. She asks her why she is so pretty, and praises her eyes, nose and lips. Then she notices the blemish on her lips and apologizes for it, but Chan claims it doesn’t hurt. Key wants to know more about Chan, but Chan tells her what happens between them is for that night only. Key asks if she won’t see her again, and Chan confirms it. Then, Key wants to know what if they run into each other, and Chan claims it won’t happen with Key claiming it’s akin to the idiom “once in a blue moon”, meaning it happens rarely, but isn’t impossible. She means that if they run into each other again, it may be because they are somehow connected. Will she give her a chance then? And Chan confirms it. In her room alone, Key thinks that Chan has forgotten her as she touches her moon tattoo, and cries a little, while Chan calls her a silly kid. Jay is drinking alone, but on her way out runs into Key who is poking around in her food, looking sullen. Key invites her to join her for dinner, but Jay is about to leave. She states that Key doesn’t seem to enjoy her meal, but Key claims it’s delicious, she just feels a bit down. Jay asks her if something is bothering her, and Key reports that she met someone. Jay can’t believe that a pretty girl like her is going through a breakup; and Key claims that she can’t even call it a breakup, as it was just a one-night stand. Jay claims she doesn’t need to care about it, then, and argues that there are many girls out there. But Key argues that she is different from other girls. Jay argues that this one night must have been really good, and Key nods silently. Jay claims she now knows why she feels down, and Key doesn’t want it to end after just one night. Jay claims that if she thinks this was a great night, she probably feels the same. Key asks her if she was her what would she do? Jay would make a move on her. Key finds this a good idea, then remarks that she still doesn’t know her name, but Jay asks does it matter? And argues that this way their relationship will be unique. Key wants to invite her for a drink, but Jay declines claiming she must meet with her family. So they say goodbye to each other again. Key is drinking at the hotel bar as Chan comes in. Key claims they meet again, and Chan asks her what is she doing there. Kex claims that she works there as a singer, and has told her they would meet again, because she works at her bar. Chan wants to know why isn’t she working that night, and Key claims it’s her day off, but actually, she wants a side job – especially a job where she can be close to her. Chan argues that people who work closely with her must be good at their job, exceptionally good. Key asks her wasn’t she good the other night, and Chan pretends she doesn’t know what she is talking about and calls her so naughty. Then, Phu arrives and asks her if that is her new friend, but she claims that is just a silly kid he shouldn’t pay any attention to. And they leave together, with Key claiming to herself that she upset the pretty sister. Then, the lady from the flashforward comes in and asks her if she came alone, and Key confirms it. The lady then claims that her drink looks tasty and wants to know what the name is. Key asks if she means the name of the cocktail or rather her own name. The lady claims she wants to know both, but she wants her name more. Key lets her taste the drink then claims knowing it tastes good should be enough, and she doesn’t need to know the name. They dance together, and the lady asks does she really not have a girlfriend as she is so pretty. But Key claims she doesn’t like commitment, and the lady also doesn’t like commitment. Then we are back at the beginning, and the scene is a repeat of the cold open – until Key starts crying. After that, Key thinks she should go and excuses herself. The next day, Key waking up from a nightmare, where she claims she is sorry, and shouldn’t have come back. We see flashes of Key in tears holding a bloody knife as she wakes up. She slowly calms down and eventually starts cuddling Simba. She goes to the door and lets Niam in who brought her delicious food. She asks her if Dad and Big Mom told her to bring it to her, but Niam claims no one told her to do this, and claims she made her favorite food, so she wanted to give it to her. Key argues that the next time she can have someone deliver it to her, but Niam argues that she made the food, so she needs to deliver it herself. She starts to clean to condo, and Key claims she has hired a helper for that, but Niam claims again she has to clean it herself. The Madam also brought cat treats for Simba. Key claims that her mother must really miss Simba, and Niam argues that it’s just such a cuddly cat and claims who wouldn’t fall for it? Key asks Niam how the mother is doing, and she reports that she is losing her appetite. She barely eats and gets sick often. Niam asks her if she can find time to visit her, claiming although she is not her biological mother, she loves her as much as if she was her daughter. But Key claims she can’t go back to that house, though Niam claims it happened a long time ago, and it wasn’t her fault. But Key claims it was her fault, it was surely her fault. Niam wants her to stop blaming herself. Chan parks her Porsche, thinking about Key, who then bumps into her car and scratches the rear-view mirror. Key apologizes for the damage and wants to call the insurance company. Chan thinks that’s overkill, but Key claims she needs to take responsibility and offers to buy her lunch thereafter. Chan suspects her of intentionally hitting her car, but Key firmly denies it. Key is on her way to have practice with her band, and didn’t want to hit her car, but Chan claims she is always trying to get her attention, and Key admits it, she wants her to pay attention to her, but not like this. Chan argues that she should go and doesn’t need to take responsibility for it. But Key wants to buy her lunch as an apology. Chan claims she doesn’t need anyone to buy her lunch – but Key now asks her to buy her lunch. So, they sit together for lunch, and Chan wants to know if she is going to eat that. Key admits it, but claims it would be nice if she could have something else as well, and Chan scolds her for her dirty mind, but Key claims all she thinks of is Chan. She then reminds her of her offer, asking her if she is interested in having her as a sugar baby and claims she’s absolutely serious about it. Is she interested? Chan claims she is a businesswoman who won’t make a deal that doesn’t benefit her. Key asks her want she wants, claiming she can give her everything. Chan calls her a player and asks her how many times has she made this kind of offer. Key claims the she is the first and only. Chan argues that she seems to have many girls around her, but Key tells her not to worry, if she takes her, she will cut them off, and leave everything behind. Chan will have all of her, and she will have only Chan. Chan argues that she can spend money on something more useful. But Key claims that they are a good match, and that night, she fell for her. She claims that Chan seems to be pretty into her as well. But Chan claims she hasn’t told her yet, why she got the moon tattoo. And she proposes that after finishing lunch, they will go to her condo and she will tell her everything. She also mentions she has a cat at home, a very cute cat. She shows her a photo of Simba, claiming she can hold him, rub his belly and even kiss him. So, they move over to her condo and presents Simba, arguing she can hold him, but Chan claims she never held a cat, but Key claims if she’s afraid then she can just pat him. Chan sits down on the sofa, and Key shows her how to pat him. Chan admits that he is cute, and admits that she never thought she would be patting a cat. Key claims she already fell for him, and Chan guesses that’s true. She gets up again and looks around, claiming the Key doesn’t seem to have money problems, so why does she want to be a sugar baby? Key confirms she doesn’t have money problems, she just wants to be her girl. Chan tells her to stop being cryptic, and asks what exactly does she want form her. Key claims everything is related to this tattoo. Chan wants to know who she really is. We switch to Phasin (played by Pete whom we last saw as Adisorn in “The Water”) feeding his wife Carat (played by Pat whom we last saw as Pat’s mother in “Poisonous Love” and as Alin’s mother in “My Safe Zone”), just as Muan returns and reports that she has failed to get Key to come back, because she still can’t forgive herself about Pin. Phasin claims that this will haunt their family forever, and his wife feels sorry for Key for what she’s going through. Chan repeats Key’s real name: Kiran Mahattanakit, arguing that with that last name, she shouldn’t work as a singer at her bar. Key argues that she wants to be close to the person who saved her life, to the person who is her first love. Chan asks if they have met before, and Key won’t tell her that they have met, because she has to remember it herself. But she can tell her this: she chose to get that moon tattoo because of her. She is her first love. As long as she can be with her, it doesn’t matter what she is to her. She’ll accept it. And that’s where “once in a blue moon” ends. ____ That was a lot. I admit that that I had my reservations about “Moonshadow”, mainly because of “My Only Sunshine” – but the opening hour showed a more adult Emi and Bonnie as they navigate this story as Chan and Key, and the backstories about the main characters seem to be completely different than in “My Only Sunshine”, as Chan and Sun didn’t go to school together there. Sun also seems to be unmarried, and their mother is apparently still alive in this version of their story. The premiere was densely plotted and showed much of Emi, Bonnie and surprisingly also Film (whose character Jay in the novel is a minor character, a sign of the usual tweaking and tinkering of the source material by GMMTV). I haven’t read “Moonshadow” after both reading and watching the r*pe/SA plot of “My Only Sunshine”, so I don’t know what will happen – but am intrigued so far. I just don’t know if “Moonshadow” can reach the heights of “Us”, and if I will love Chan and Key as much as Pam and Dokrak. But we will see. 😊

I loved that you have watched enough GMMTV shows that you are starting to recognize other cast members from the company. I find it endearing when reactors point out reoccurring actresses/actors from other series who were typically in supporting roles. It’s like finding Easter eggs for me when I also play that game :)

This is about to be a very interesting and exciting ride. I'm excited to see how this goes. The gospel music during the spicy scene definitely shook me at first and then I immediately replayed it and all I can say is that was an interesting and smart song choice honestly.

1. None of us would survive FilmBonnie but a nice way to go 🫠. 2. Long haired Emi unnerves me. Her aura is so different with her bob cut. 3. Curious how the story will play out since it looks like they’ve already made changes from the novel.

I have questions…so many questions??? One of the best first episodes in a series. The introductions of so many characters that will help weave this story together. US was like that too. And The tension was present from the get go and wow talk about spicy and hot hot hot! The chemistry is on fire. Emi/Bonnie/Film - I’m giving each the chef’s kiss for acting. Emi presenting a character that has a commanding presence. Calm, confident - in charge. Bonnie the flirty, troubled young soul-looking to heal her past. And Film - elegance personified. She doesn’t have to say much but her aura wraps you up and all that speaks volumes. I’m loving this show. They’ve set the bar high on this one. It’ll be a long wait for the episode 2.

Well, the EB chemistry is always fire, Emi plays a convincing twin, Film has never looked better to me on screen, rich & pretty things like cars & homes, cat's a cutie, and sexy is on overload from the start. All good gl ingredients, but the story so far hasn't pulled me in yet. I hope it will though🤞🏼 I'm just sad that I feel atm like I could stop watching & it would be like meh to me. I'm sticking with it anyway, despite that & the crap sound design/bg music for GMMTV gl's that have taken over. Like they had time to listen to the viewers and adjust before filming this

Lol, guys, you don’t need to have amnesia to not remember someone. I think the inciting incident was something big for Key but not for Chan, and that’s why she doesn’t remember who Key is off the top of her head. Also, I don’t think Sun has much of anything to do with anything just yet, but she is definitely alive. Dunno why Dee’s so obsessed with her right now 😂 Sun’s a famous actress. That scene with her at the beginning WAS present day (comes right after the ‘2 days before’ title card), Peach is a regular photographer for Sun, and the guy at the bar initially mistakes Chan for Sun. She’s totally alive and present here lol. Also also, ‘chan’ means ‘moon’ in Thai, which is why that’s Key’s tattoo, and I assume why the hotel is called The Crescent. (And the twins are ‘Moon’ and Sun.) Great reaction, can’t wait for next week!

I love to solve a mystery. So I'm going to make a wild guess from the info they have given us so far about Chan and Key. Chan is serious business women with an ex "J" that is trying to win her back. Chan has a twin who is an actress/singer that she sometimes would swap places with when they were young, then later studied abroad in the US. Key is a signer that has isolated herself from her family due to some trauma that happened in the past. She has a past connection with Chan that made her love her, that Chan doesn't remember. My guess is this: When they were both younger Key met Chan while Chan was pretending to be her sister (Sun). At the time Key was mentally in a bad place in her life after the mystery home trauma. Chan showed some kind of kindness or inspiration to Key that helped her turn her life back around and move on and inspired her to become a signer herself which had a huge impact on her life. Chan doesn't remember because is was a brief interaction and at the time she was with and in love with "J". There are so many other mysteries to guess at in this story so far. What is Key's trauma? What happened in the relationship with Chan and "J"? I'm excited for the rest of the series, they are off to a great start. Also since M&D brought up the audio issues with the show. GMM definitely has issues with that chronically in their shows. I know M&D have to listen to the show via headphones since they are recording. But I have learned I CANNOT listen to GMM shows with headphones on it makes they audio issues so much worse. With speakers it at least tones in down some. I do think GMM is working on it. They did a hard cut on they background noise in this show during the dialog in the bar, which was obvious and a little clunky. But better than in Girl Rules and EWB when the background noise sometimes drowns out the dialog. It's a minor complaint and hopefully GMM or production keeps working on it.

I feel like both twins/look-alike and 'having met earlier' plots are overused already in Thai GLs. The show had a great start so I really hope the story is strong with solid foundations.

It's very soap opera-y. My Mom used to watch the soap operas like All My Children and Guiding Light and General Hospital. They use the twins storyline a lot in American soap operas. They also use coming back from the dead a lot. I haven't seen that storyline quite as much on GLs, but the twin storyline is a big one in American soap operas. The Pluto one was essential to the plot, it was the whole show. I have no idea how big a deal this twin storyline will be or really anything about Ditto's twin storyline. Hopefully the twin thing won't be too big of a deal. I really would love the focus to be on Chan, Key and Jay and not involve Sun too much. She already had her show in My Only Sunshine.

It's funny you said Jamie (the girl playing Peach in Moonshadow and Medsai in EWB) needs a girl. In the other show based on these characters (My Only Sunshine), the story is about the other twin, Sun. And in that show, Peach does get herself a girl. I don't know if they'll bring that into Moonshadow or not. I never read this book, but I do know it takes place after My Only Sunshine. Also, MOS isn't really that great. But it is fun that the characters are all the same. Also, Jamie and Earn (who played Jan in Pluto and Charoen in 23.5) are a couple in the GMMTV BL, The Ex-Morning. And one more fun fact, the director, Fon, who you rightly recognized as the director of Us, is also the director of 23.5.

S
S723 ¡ August 13, 2026

Yea *spoiler* My Only Sunshine couldn't really get me past the basically sexual assault that the second lead, Rafa, did with Sun. They reconciled quickly, but that was hard to look past. Rafa also was super possessive and jealous. Rafas sister does end up with Peach, so I do wonder if that is mentioned. Peach was one of the cooler characters on the show, so it'd be interesting to see other than the names if there is a connection to My Only Sunshine. Like is Sun with Rafa? If they don't connect it I dont mind. It was just an ok series. Would've been cool if that show and this one were done by the same company because maybe that show would've been better. :)

EmiBonnie are proving why they are at the forefront of the GL couples. They have been around far less than many couples out there but they put out quality work, act, sing and seem like genuine people. Other than some sound issues(like loud steps or loud glass clinks) the quality of the show was perfect, so happy they have the same director as US. Have a lot of trust in the production and obviously the actors that this show will deliver like it did the first episode.
