To summarize the past events without any spoilers: 1. By official status, Jinshi is the younger brother of the current Emperor. However, by bloodline, Jinshi is the son of the current Emperor (which is kept as a secret). 2. The matter of the infant swap will be revealed later (a very long time from now, not in Season 2 or 3). 3. Regarding the late Emperor, the author once gave a (somewhat vague) explanation. In short, when he was a child, he was likely sexually abused by an adult woman due to his appearance and status. This caused him to be terrified of adult women, and his mother deeply regretted that she couldn't protect him back then, so she has been trying to protect him ever since.

Okay this is getting frustrating haha, Jinshi is the current emperor's brother. Jinshi himself said it a few episodes ago. xD
