cant wait for next episode's drop already :D btw, just a mild confusion: when her dad told her "it's over already", he wasn't telling her that her time's up that she didn't solve it in time. I think it was a subtle way of saying "maomao, sometimes u need to let things go, don't dig too much into it and open pandora's box." So when she finally figured out what ACTUALLY happened, she used her "dont speak from conjecture" moto as an excuse to let it go and not tell on the brothel girls and cause them trouble because the guy was really bad (and probably worse than they knew about), and didn't share what she learned with anyone: she was just satisfied that she solved the mystery, she didn't show any emotions of indignant mindset or the likes, just like her dad hinted : "let it go, maomao" , implying that he had already figured out what actually happened and chose to stay silent too. Maomao's been seen very often trying "not to stir up shit", even when she's obseving others, or "people watching" the people at the palace like gaoshin and jinshi and even the other courtesans and even the food tester. She solves the problem but she's been conditioned (for some reason) to not put herself in the spotlight unless it's absolutely necessary (even when she was trying to save the babies from the white powder poison). So that's a recurring theme that she'll stumble on something, notice it, and thennnnnnnnnn completely drop it and pretend she didnt' see it, not because she's being dumb, but because she's PLAYING dumb... much like how she did with the fact that she knows how to read and write. She's such an interesting main character, and sometimes gives off Frieren vibes in terms of her apathy, but her one weakness (other than her fetish for poisons and medicine :P, is that her curiosity gets her roped up in things by accident because she's TOO observant, when she's trying to lay low :D )
