All of us collectively “god dammit stark get your shit together.” The whole date talking about Frieren was not smooth lol but for the grand plot I think it was neat. The hero’s party can’t have a single conversation without bringing up himmel. And now Frieren is following his footsteps, trying to be the person himmel knew she could be. And here we have her little protégés who can’t even have a date without talking about Frieren… she doesn’t realize it yet… but she’s already their Himmel. Fern’s history with magic and love have been repeatedly associated with butterflies. She generated magic butterflies when Heiter taught her first spell. The hair clip Frieren got her as a new doting parent. The pouch Sein bought her when telling her how emotions come in different forms. And now her shield, when defending herself - it just breaks… But stepping in to protect Stark, it lasts longer and when it shatters, it breaks into dozens of butterflies. The cold calculated basic spell mage who took an impaling wound from Lugnere without a whimper of fear for herself, saw stark in danger and put her heart into that shield.
There's some very interesting and heartbreaking implications in 3 people whose homes were all destroyed when they were kids, and never had a real home ever since, needing to be told that the reason the people on the northern plateau don't leave is because it's their home 😭

Both Fern and Stark are 18+. Their birthdays are mentioned in earlier episodes. I'm glad we got these last two episodes. I enjoy a good slowburn but you gotta make progress eventually. I would say it was even a high point of the series for me. Frieren crying last episode was hilarious lol
Yeah according to the wiki they're around 19 or 20 at this point in the story.
