The show doesn’t mention this but in the novel Bell talks about having dated women previously. She had a girlfriend prior to Top.

One note about Pa Pon - it wasn't made clear in the shot where Porches picks up the bottle, but she took the entire bottle of medication. She died because she overdosed, not because she missed a dose. What's not clear is whether she OD'd because of her Alzheimers, or if she was experiencing terminal lucidity and decided to end her own life. After all, she managed to find the pill bottle where it was hidden in Claire's bed. It's really hard to say. This episode is what cemented for me the greatness of this show. It's really a masterpiece. The relationship between Claire and Pon that gives us a deeper understanding of Claire in general, the way the show foreshadows Pon's death, but in so doing, completely hides the hints about Bell's dad, so that we are totally blindsided the way that she is. The way Pon's last day is handled. The end scene. It's all so beautiful and masterful. The one thing i wasn't sure about in the whole show so far has been their first kiss. It's beautiful, but I think it would have made a little more sense pacing-wise for it to be in the next episode, catalyzed by grief and a need for comfort. It felt surprising when it happened. But ultimately, prison is going to encourage some surprising behaviours and that need for comfort anyway, and they're clearly attracted to each other, so it's not the biggest issue in the world. As for Kae, this is just my opinion, but, she's the one who deserves to be there the most. Everyone else is there because of circumstances out of their control, even if it's just poverty. But it seems like Kae was a straight-up criminal. Sorry, i really tried to keep this comment short, but i'm a yapper D:

I can't wait for Next Sunday!! for ep 4 reaction. Also, I am so loving this series' production quality, story and Symbolism. I read it somewhere, how they softened the scenes with warm yellow light. How there was darkness in that "lesbian Den" (according to Meesh, lol) and the moment they kissed there is warm bright light. The red is shown from different perspective of both lead characters.

What an artistic episode this was !!! It revealed soooo muchhh in such a classy way. Damn.

I was so heartbroken at the end of this episode, Bell couldn't be with her father in his last moments, and Claire only had the grandma as a friend in this prison...

This episode when I first saw it made me cry because of that poor grandma. People with alzheimer's should not be able to hold their own medication as they can forget they took it and just keep taking all of it. It's sad.
