This is why this show is so great! While the goofy stuff is funny, in a world with psycho aliens and seemly evil spirits the real monsters are still humans.
Yeah. This episode is definitely like an initiation. I love how yall are appreciating the animation. I know your list is long, but I definitely recommend putting most of the movies and a few shows produced by Science SARU on there. Their animation is incredible and unique.
I think both Dan Da Dan and Demon Slayer do a really good job showing the backstories of their antagonists. It's just that so far, the only evil spirits Okarun and Momo have fought and beaten are the Turbo Granny and this episode. Turbo Granny we know she used to hang around places where young girls had died violently, trying to comfort their souls. And now we know that Acrobatic Silky was a loving mother before turning to a monster. You'll see there'll be more stories like this.
Who is crying ... (cryinggggg) what an episode
Everyone else already said the important stuff, so I’m just here to recommend Gachiakuta as a anime to watch down the line 🫡
I 100% believe that if you have unresolved things in your life, or you've experienced a traumatic death.. you can be stuck wandering in between life and death. I have not read the manga so idk anything but.. It makes sense to me that a mother who thought she failed her child, because of the life she was involved with, would carry that weight into the afterlife and try to resolve that. I find it so innocent that you think the issue was over unpaid rent.
First time watcher of the series. I was balling alongside Dee. My goodness. I am glad I am not alone on this watch
This episode make EVERYBODY cry lol. Nobody expected Dandadan to be this emotional.
Nice to see you talk about not being too judgmental toward the spirits. If you think about what we've seen so far, the yokai antagonists have trauma in their past. Meanwhile, the alien antagonists are inflicting trauma. Well, I guess technically Turbo Granny was causing some trauma. 😅 But now we know more about why she was doing what she was doing and how that connects to these dynamics. DanDaDan has a lot to say about victimization and agency underneath all the bonkers stuff that happens on the surface.
Ah, yes, the episode where old DanDaFans say to new DanDaFans: "Welcome to the community." 😅
Aira embodying the child the mom lost and saying "I love you. I was the happiest in the universe," tears me apart. And from the flashbacks we can tell that that child truly was the happiest in the universe (until the last scene). Despite their circumstances the mom did everything in her power to make sure her child was happy and loved. I like to imagine that Aira experienced those memories, looking at it from the child's point of view. As someone who lost her own mom she probably truly did feel how happy and loved the child felt and when she said that to the spirit at the end, even though it was to console the spirit and to let her rest in peace, there couldn't have been a more truthful thing to say.
Such a good episode in this show. Probably my favorite overall. Such a unique beautiful way to explain a tragic story.
well said, we're still healing from this episode 😭
The initiation is complete 😭
🥺
6:00 you're not alone, we were with you meesh :P laughing at Dee's need for her Rings as the first thought she got after finding out Aira died :/ lmao
What do the rings do/represent?
we're here... this Acrobatic Silky backstory is the episode that changes the tone of this show (for the better, or worse i guess :/ ) and im here for it... The mother was working 3 jobs including selling her own body (the money on the counter with a timer) and she was dipping into her savings to give her daughter a dress and ballerina stuff, and the loan sharks basically took her daughter... what's even darker is that it's implied that they took her daughter as part of a trafficing ring, since it's the same people who she owned money to from her prostitution payoffs/savings that she dipped into . She was dancing on the roof after she gave up for losing her daughter and that "thud" is her jumping off the roof as a suicide. In the end, her aura was breaking down and it was going horizontally and falling into nothingness, When Aira hugged her and told her she loved her and to rest in peace, her aura started fading away UPWARDS, towards the sky, as a symbolic implication that she was able to rest in peace in the end because of aira
thanks for making us more sad 😢
Was really looking forward to this episode, and not because I enjoy seeing the ladies cry. OK, maybe a little
🥺❤️
Tremendísimo 7w7 💔💔💔 A little context on the past story of “Acrobatic Silky” since you need to pay a lot of attention to the details appearing in the scenes to understand her tragic history. I clarify that this is a personal conclusion and not official. In her past, she was a young woman who may once have worked as a professional dancer — a single mother juggling several jobs to support her daughter. Among those jobs, it’s implied that she occasionally resorted to prostitution, as her other work wasn’t enough to make ends meet. In the red room scene, there are signs of this: condom wrappers, her clothes tossed aside, and a timer used to track the time and the money left on the bedside table. The conflict and the kidnapping of her daughter may have happened because she borrowed money from people connected to the yakuza and couldn’t pay them back in time. After failing to catch those responsible and feeling powerless and devastated by the situation, she went to the rooftop of a building, danced one last time, and then ended her life by jumping. Her spirit wandered the earth, lost and full of regret, until one day little Aira took her hand — the only one who could see her, as Aira’s father asked what she was doing there alone. At that moment, the spirit transformed and gained new strength, setting her purpose on protecting Aira out of remorse for not being able to protect her own daughter. It’s a truly heartbreaking story 7w7.
I will add that it is heavily implied in the manga that the daughter died soon after the kidnapping, and mother and daughter finally got to be together again when Acro Silky passed on.
the men who beat her up where her loan sharks, she was a sex worker and owed them money, they took child for her organs
or as a human trafficking ring, whether for PDFs or just for selling until they're older etc... it wasn't uncommon also back then to sell girls to "studios" for "training them" in the art of being an escort or entertainment (like in demon slayer's entertainment district arc)
🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭
😭😭😭
Tremendo!! 7w7 💔💔💔
