a helpful detail about the use of the word “warrior” in this episode and just the way translators do subs in general. sometimes it’s translated “warrior” and sometimes “Warrior”, as in a title or station. whenever they’re talking about “Warrior candidates” its capitalized, but there are other moments where someone just uses it generally like when macgath asks “are you not warriors…” hope that’s helpful! i put off starting y’alls reactions on youtube cause once you’ve seen aot you know its hard not to binge and i didn’t want to wait a bunch between reactions. but i ended up bingeing way faster then expected and caught up. 😆 so obvi had to join the patreon. never expected you guys to be so locked in on the details, it’s a lot of work as reactors! thanks for all the great reactions and being so invested in the story and characters. and for being hilarious. 😂

It is so sad because even though Ymir was such an asshole and rough around the edges, she is one of the most human characters in this show, and very selfless. RIP YMIR

if you guys are wondering why ymir left and went with reinar and bert, its because the only reason she was able to become a human again, is because she ate their friend, Marcel, by eating him she was able to transform back into a human, so she felt that it was fair to give herself back to them, because she knows how eldians are persecuted and treated in Marley, which is why she doesn't want them to go home empty handed. Also she was like 60 something years old and had no reason to live other than Historia, so to her it made sense to leave Historia in the walls where its safe because of eren's coordinate ability and hand herself over to the people who allowed her to get a second chance at life in the first place.

You guys' reading comprehension are AMAZING (not even exaggerating) cuz every time before I start watching other reactors' reaction to S4E1, I just automatically expect them to be SUPER confused till the end of the episode (sometimes even until the 2nd episode) in terms of the timeline (are we in a flashback? future? present?), the new characters as well (a lot of reactors saw Falco as young Reiner, Udo as young Bertholdt, and Zofia as young Annie. Which causes them to think that the episode is a flashback), and also about which nation the Marleyans are in war with. The fact that you two managed to read through the subtitles and understand the information so quickly in your first watch despite the distractions from the new animation and the action scenes (not to mention the no-pausing too!) is literally just INCREDIBLE! Here I thought it's impossible to watch this episode without pausing for the subtitles XD You guys are just built diff LMAO I'm even more surprised when you two were so fast in noticing details that I've never seen any other reactors do XD (maybe I'll mention this again when you've seen the confirmations in the future episodes :) ) Anyways, I might be going over with the compliments but seriously, this is why a lot of your viewers don't skip your intro and outro discussions because both of your analysis skills are so good that those long discussions are so intriguing to listen to (even if sometimes the kitchen is on fire from overcooking XD). Will be enjoying this another and final season with you two :))

Random thought but are Historia and Ymir probably the best anime romance? Shonen Anime are notoriously lacking in the romance department. Any good anime couples out there that aren’t strictly from romance animes?

The animation went from WIT to MAPPA, the same thing actually happened in Vinland Saga as well. The only big difference is the cg titans besides that they’re similar

Thanks for the shout out again! haha and I think the animators at WIT were overworked and had a crazy schedule to keep up with so MAPPA took over and unfortunately, MAPPA suffered from schedule constraints as well. But overall, I think the series has pretty good animation and it doesn't hinder the story in anyway :)

LETSGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO To respond to your discussion points, not everyhting is accurate, and not everything you said is wrong either, some are partially true, some are confusion points and some are things we cannot answer you rgiht now. I can't say which is which because i think part of the game is to be able to have theories (good or bad) and let them play out. All i can say is that you're asking good questions, but you're getting sometimes hung up on the terminology and a few subtitles were misread by you both during the show and it confused you (no, not the second Armored Train-er :P lmaoooooooo), but i suggest in this season, some episodes may need a double take and a third take before moving on. What's funny is that it's not like Meesh is always right or Dee is always right, but there were many times when ya'll think something, and then the other person accidentally gaslights you hahaha. So trust your gut, and before giving up on your argument, look it up in your historical notes or previous episodes, then you know the answer for the both of ya. Rewatches can be helpful too here Especially those first few episodes because of hte animation changes, and the lore on the side of the sea etc.

I always felt like Historia and Ymir were opposites but parrelel. They both put up a facade. Historia: A person who used to act selfless but embraced her selfish side. Ymir: A person who acts selfish on the exterior but deep down is super selfless. Pretended to be a goddess to help people around her in her backstory and so on. Ymir always told Historia to be selfish and to stop living for others but she never took her own advice because deep down Ymir's true self is being selfless. She felt guilty for stealing Marcel's power from Reiner's group and she knew the situation they were in if they were to return empty handed so she gave herself away which is REALLY selfless of her. It may feel weird that Ymir would give herself away but thinking about it more it seems more true to her character You guys are so so smart. Picking up everything this episode.

I love reactors that genuinely like AOT. It gets confusing but people who love it can’t help but pay attention to the details & keep up with the plot.

I believe WIT studio just wanted to move on because at this point they had been stuck doing Aot for like 8 years or something. I like the change because just like our heroes inside the walls, it's like us the audience, are also seeing the world through a gloomier, grittier, more real lense. Their world changes in both scope AND appearance

The animation & the look the titans gets better in part 2 imo.

Compared to other reactors, you guys understood the change of setting very well. Other reactors were confused AF while you guys instantly deduced it was the present timeline and Galliard was Ymir's titan which shows that you really love and understood the show. :)

From what I understood, Ymir probably went with Reiner and Bertholt to give what she stole. She's a very selfless person, and she owes them for giving her a second chance in life. And besides, she'll die one way or another because of the "Curse of Ymir"

Loving the intro looking back on this anime over the months. Crazy it started back in April, I subbed to Patreon back then specifically for this anime. 5 months have flown by. Not me looking back at 3x18 on Patreon here to see when you watched this s4 premiere, must be crazy for yall sometimes wanting to speak with the discord folks about the episodes but having to occasionally wait a long time haha. Also, as always, SHOUTOUT THE MODS. They're keeping this experience sacred for you two and it's so SO important. I can't imagine having the story of AoT spoiled. Yeah that's ymir's titan he looks like that beacuse that guy is super strong warrior not like ymir who was not that strong compared to people like Eren, Annie or Reiner.

You guys did great.😁👍 Meesh got it right with the fact that Eldians are hated by everyone in the world given the history of the Eldian Empire which you learned about at the end of Season 3. Furthermore, the Marley was using Eldians, who Zeke turns into Titans, kind of like bombs in a sense. And the threat of Paradis isn't the Eldian people on the island but rather what you learned is buried inside the walls. Lastly, Ymir had less than 13 years left with her life. No doubt she knew her time was drawing near so maybe that explains her decision making process. Hint: The your questions will be answered so don't worry if somethings don't make sense.
