Amazing story, and so happy to be watching it all again with you. Love the reactions so far :) Can't wait to see how Dee reacts to the last half of the final episode...will be watching!
You won't be disappointed! 😁🥰
After seeing this episode for the first time, I sort of wondered if maybe Hama wasn’t actually the first bloodbender, but that it was a forbidden technique or that knowledge of it was destroyed. And Yakone seems to imply that it’s something that’s been passed down from his ancestors, so maybe similar “hunting trips” were a family tradition. Cuz it really wouldn’t be that hard for multiple waterbenders to rediscover bloodbending throughout history. I’ve seen a lot of ATLA reactors sort of guess bloodbending after the swamp episode, but they write it off because it’s a kid’s show. So like, if a bunch of different people just watching the show could think of it, it makes sense that other people before Hama in the show thought of it as well.
I love the irony of Hiroshi, the wealthiest man in Republic City, giving speeches about everyone finally being equal.
thats why Amon isnt really a correct allegory for communism, like some people like to say he is. He is fundamentally allied with the biggest capitalist in the city, he is not a communist he wanted equality in ability, but not necessarily in posession
such a heartbreaking double villain origin story... imagine growing up with that I would also resent bending as an ability tbh. it ruined his life.
sooo tragic 😭😭
