Since I did this for episode 1 I鈥檒l do it here as well. According to the wiki Mako is 18 in Book 1 and Bolin is 16.
Also, lol at Dee continuously asking if anyone else is an airbender, like the trait can just pop up randomly in non-airbending families!
So the thing about the avatar struggling with an element is that, Katara was basically just making an educated guess. Aang鈥檚 personality was opposite to what was needed for earthbending. It鈥檚 hard to say with Roku, since we barely saw anything from him before he became a fully realized avatar, but he did fall down a lot as a teenager, which makes me think his movements weren鈥檛 naturally fluid. Hell, Kyoshi even struggled with earthbending, which is her birth-element. As you guys said in this episode reaction, Korra is very stubborn, which is a key trait for earthbending, and the opposite of what鈥檚 needed for airbending. (Although ironically enough, Tenzin can also be pretty stubborn. He鈥檚 got so much Katara in him.)
Even though Korra was bothered by Nickelodeon not having much faith in it at the start. And the writers had to work around those issues. They still did a great job the first 2 seasons, not knowing if there would be another at the beginning.
Aw man I just had to be on my way to work right when this video comes out Lol 馃槶, I'm definitely gonna watch this when I get the chance to 馃檶
