December Update
Greetings perverts and pervettes.
This is the first chunk of my December update. I’m gonna squirt out a bug fix in a couple days for Harem Camp but I’m functionally done with that for the foreseeable future. I’ve finally finished a background task I’ve had circulating in the background for a while but you want to hear about the games I’m working on, so I’ll give you that first and then twaddle on about stuff only I care about.
I’m back at work on Live in Corruption. This update will focus on Susan and the events going on at her office, along with the side girls that operate out of there, Lenore, Lindsay and Mavis. I’m in the mode of trying to wrap things up and bring things together to a satisfying conclusion. I’m going to structure the end game a bit like Fallout: New Vegas in that there are a few different factions and you’ll be able to progress their plot and run them into the ending. From that there’s three main endings I have planned, but I don’t want to spoil details just yet. For this release I also want to add in a new variant of the bad ending for the late game bad end that still has adult content. I actually will get some screenshots out before the release this time. (The process of working on Harem Camp one last time got me more bogged down in the weeds than I had expected and I figured more dev time was more important than posting on social media).
Looking to the future, I have a design document for my follow up to Live in Corruption. I’ve mentioned my boomer RPG project a few times. I do have a primitive prototype built in pygame on top of Renpy, but it’s definitely something I noodle around with, and I know it’s something with limited marketability. I’ve found an engine for boomer RPGs in development, I’m going to explore that and see if that might already have most of what I want already implemented.
But that’s not gonna really be the follow up to LIC. My actual followup to LIC is basically, “What if I designed Live in Corruption to be what it eventually became from the beginning?” My design document for that is growing. The idea is roughly: three main love interests, each with distinct personalities and a different thing that makes them uptight/corruptible. The thing that I’ve come to realize is that the “fun” of LIC is that there are all these uptight women and you’re getting them to do things that they actually want to do, but they resist for bigger cultural reasons; be they personal, religious or societal. As I get closer to finishing LIC I’ll start to hype the follow up more and more.
Last of all, I've saved this for last because probably nobody cares about this but me but I do care about it, a few months ago you may remember me talking about my great workflow update project. It got delayed by the hardware problems I had during the autumn, but now that my computers work properly I have been able to finish this up. I’ve been trying to get away from Windows for a while. I don’t like the direction much of the tech industry has been going for the last few years; programs paid for by mass surveillance and marketing data, financial scams masquerading as innovation, and reduced user control over our own hardware. That’s right, I’m a gross perverted weirdo and also have a strong sense of honor and morality. Microsoft is guilty of all of these things. Nvidia, which is necessary for using Daz Studio, neglects it’s retail consumers for the benefit of mass scale financial scams. The main problem with moving to Linux is getting Daz Studio to recognize Nvidia GPUs, because Nvidia has famously bad support for Linux. But it can be done and I’ve done it.
I’m still a little bit iffy about Valve, given the recent shakeup on their storefront(still a little salty I don’t trust them enough to put Harem Camp on Steam), but at least they got a lot of people invested in contributing to Wine, which makes it possible to run Daz Studio under Linux.
There’s a lot of meat on the bone of what distro you should pick. I’m still just running baby’s first distros, Mint on my work PC and Bazzite on my rendering rig. I think if you’re running an Nvidia GPU your best bet would be Bazzite because they have a disk image specifically for Nvidia cards. Getting Mint and it’s windowing system to work with recent Nvidia drivers is an adventure...
For me this gives me a few benefits. First of all, I get off Windows and Billy “Patrick” Gates III no longer gets to surveil the weird perverted video games I play. Second, my home network operates properly so I’m not shuffling drives between machines all the time and worrying about what file system a given drive is running. It also gives me maximal control over what I’m running on my computer.
The really frustrating thing is that somehow Daz Studio works so much better on my Bazzite install than it ever did on Windows. That’s not some weird Linux crank guy thing. The UI is way snappier and it seems to use less system resources than Windows did. That might just be me reacting to working on a slightly faster video card than I’ve been using though. It doesn’t matter too much though, because I’m still mostly using my work PC to set up renders and then send them to my render PC.
Anyway, I’m gonna get back to work. See you in a couple weeks.
