Resin time! Resin time! Glad you’re safe. If the current flow was from the conductors on the side of the outlet, GFCI tripping on the outlet wouldn’t matter even if there was some leakage to ground. Might have been enough resistance with the water to draw enough current to melt and burn, but not enough to trip the breaker. Think space heater in outlet form. Any electricians here who can shine more light on this?
