[0.9] Progress Report #12
Another two weeks, another devlog! And I have some stuff to talk about in this one given you've seen the image above, and if you haven't, then I don't know, your brain works in mysterious ways you'd actively choose to read some text instead of looking at a pretty picture.
Anyway, I have decided to split 0.9 up a bit. I've taken out the last two scenes of the original 0.9 and they will go into 0.10 instead, as I said a couple of dev-logs ago one of the scenes is quite complex and will require a lot of renders and animations. AT LEAST 64 animations, and realistically I just don't want you guys waiting around forever for new content, so I've decided to end 0.9 on a natural ending that was going to be glossed over originally but honestly, it's the perfect stopping point. I don't know how or why I decided it wasn't going to be as cool as it was, but it turned out absolutely amazing and I can't wait for you to see it. The entire update is kinda fire - but if you don't think it is, keep that to yourself hehe.
Now, I know some people will complain. "Waa the update is short" - That's just unfortunate. The update is still pretty large. Just as large as 0.6 and all the previous updates before it. It was only 0.8 that was much bigger than the rest of them. It's already been 5.5 months since I started working on 0.9 and personally, that's long enough without content SO. this is not a release date, If you know me, I don't do those. BUT! I will say a loose EXPECTATION of two weeks for 0.9! Yes. Two weeks! I'm super excited for you all to dig your teeth into it, I have done A LOT of funky stuff this update, some of which you'd have probably never seen before in a game like this. If you play a lot of them, I'm sure you would have, but for the average joe, probably not. I don't know, boost my ego.
Oh, also, it does mean some of 0.10 is already written. So... yay!
That's about it for the yapping, I think. Er, oh yeah. I'm going to be re-rendering the first scene in the kitchen from 0.1 for 0.9 as well and that will be shipped with it to a lot of your disappointment. Again, that's unfortunate but it's what I want to do. I know for a fact that if I booted up TNT for the first time and was excited to play looking at the itch page and then I get presented with that monstrosity, I would have noped out of it pretty quickly. At the time I would have thought it was super cool and looked really good, but it really doesn't. I'm a learned perfectionist. Oops.
Oh look at that, I said I would stop yapping and then I just continue. Where's that sanity meter?

I know what a perfectionist's mind can be like, I say this from experience because I'm an editor, and you made the best decision. It's better to start with the remastered version now than later, and as I said before Playing it for the first time now as it is is not the same as playing it remastered Personally I'm a fan of old engines, but seeing how the renders turned out in the images you showed us earlier, it looks 100 times better. they are different sensationsWhether you play it for the first time remastered or not, I think you made a good decision. , it's better to start now than to have it eating you up in your head later because it didn't turn out the way you wanted. 馃┓

Meh, the story wouldn't be as good if your sanity was any higher 馃槀 I am looking forward to more Easter Eggs. I'm still reeling over finding Miss_Penny in here among others. Especially the little crossover with Lucy, that literally blew my mind when I first saw her on the train. IFKYK

Doesn't have time to finish the last scene but has time to redo the first scene.hmm j/k, just taking the piss. We really are our own worst critics sometimes. has it really been 5.5 months? Doesn't feel like it, been a busy year so far. Looking forward to the new update, and glad you have an early start on the next one.

to be honest i played games of any kind but this one of urs was the best of them. its true that it had some issues at the first parts of the story but the way the story goes how u want and the way it gives u choices to satisfied and the *back* button to change things u dont like in the future parts of the story is a big add.ide like to ask if u can add *log in*so we log in with accounts so our saves and progress dont just disapear and we have to do everything again..after all keep up
Ahhhh... So THAT'S where the 15% writing went lol. It's a good thing that you did do that too. Keeping us hungry. I'll eat this one, when it comes out

Oh my god, time flew by so fast! This is insane. I thought I鈥檇 have to wait another two months.
Iunno about the others Rogue, but I'm perfectly ok with the visuals in The Fiery Scion. Y'all have captured me with your chars, story, and world. If the visuals progress over time, that's great, but I don't think you need to replace your roots. Rework is for finished products 馃槣 Anyways, my 2cp, but most devs are also perfectionists, and I'm just along for the ride, so you do you. Excited to see what you've cooked for ch9!

Short update or long update, an update is an update. As long as there's work put in and it isn't just slop thrown together in an attempt to push content it's fine. A bit disappointed in the decision to rework the kitchen scene. As I said before, the progress in quality is very nice to see during a VN and reworking parts early on just leaves quality a complete mess instead of having a nice gradual increasing line. Now you're going to have a high quality kitchen scene at the start with then following a drop-off in quality only to then have the gradual increase in overtime quality. This will just end up being more jarring.
I get where you're coming from, but I think it's a balancing act. Yes this means there will be shifts back and forth in quality, but for any new players, it means they get a preview of what the better quality will look like later, while not having something so ugly to look at first thing that it actively pushes them away.
