Glad to have another new one!
That was a great one.
This song is huge in shitty, small college towns in the middle of nowhere. Think of places like Lubbock, Texas. It’s a bunch of college girls from the suburbs or who want to roleplay as a country girl, and because they think lowly of people that are actually from rural America — They make the assumption that this is how real southern country women act… Like horny, braindead alcoholics. The analogy of rap was pretty spot on — This song and how it speaks of sex and alcohol is to white girls from the suburbs how rap speaks of women and drugs to white boys from the suburbs.
Any area near Yellowstone is a world of its own since it’s some of the most valuable real estate in the country, and since many of that region’s original settlers are descendants of mining tycoons that once bribed the US army to defy treaties and borders the country made with the indians living there. When you get into the south, the only truly wealthy ranchers and farmers you meet are people who sold off 40-60% of the land (and its mineral rights) their grandparents bled for OR they’re someone from one of the coastal states who sold their home for 1.2M, and then bought a couple hundred acres of land so they could run their business remote while exploiting local tax laws. Most landowners down here in the rural south only have 50-80 acres — Maybe 120 in the upper end of averages. Purdue, Rayonier, and other big Ag Corps hold most of the larger parcels with the help of banks who keep our farmers in a chokehold. Saying that most farmers and ranchers are wealthy would get you laughed at down here. Most of them are just simple, kind, and God-fearing families who get treated like inbred and alcoholic cattle by most transplants and travelers from the bigger cities… So when people down here want to “act country” when they aren’t from the county — They think that means to act like a shameless animal while wearing your nicest outfit from Cavender’s.
It’s palacing time
