Just mentioning this in case it’s helpful rather than critical — I’ve seen a few creators accidentally run into this without realising. In the UK, if people **pay to enter**, the **winner is chosen by chance**, and there’s a **cash prize**, it can legally be classed as a *lottery* under the Gambling Act 2005. When entry money is pooled and then randomly awarded (for example £1 from each membership going into a monthly pot), that usually ticks all three boxes. The reason it matters is that running a lottery without the proper licence or registration can technically be considered **illegal gambling**. In practice that can mean things like the platform shutting it down, funds being frozen, or in more serious cases action from the Gambling Commission. The legal penalties can include **fines and potentially prosecution**, which obviously isn’t something any creator wants to accidentally wander into. A lot of UK creators get around this pretty easily by doing one of these instead: • funding the prize themselves rather than pooling member money • running it as a **free prize draw** with a genuine free entry route outside Patreon • or doing a **skill-based competition** instead of a random draw I’m only mentioning it because the rules around this in the UK are surprisingly strict and loads of people don’t realise until someone points it out. Love the show by the way — just thought it might be useful info in case it helps avoid any headaches down the line 👍
