Write Custom Letters (Preview)

Hi everyone! I've been working on a mod all this month that allows your sims to write various customizable letters and receive responses to them.

It's my special Valentine's Day mod. Of course, it will be released before the holiday. I just need to do some testing.

06.02.2026 UPDATE: Small technical fix for canceled writing cases

06.02.2026 UPDATE: The 'Write letter' option is now available for computers and school lockers. With the latter, you can select any teen on the lot and receive a response after one or two hours. When writing on the computer, just imagine that the sims have printed their letters. ;D I have added the pie menu icon to make the interaction easier to find. I also fixed the 'By:' string in the Russian translation.

Start Writing

To write a letter, select the "Write Letter" interaction on the journal from the "Parenthood" or "Life and Death" pack, or on the computer, or on the school locker.

Choose Recipient

Next, select a recipient. It can be either an acquaintance or a celebrity whose personal data has been leaked to the media (a feature from the "Get Famous" pack). The minimum age of the recipient is a teen, and they cannot live in the same household as the sender's sim.

Set Letter Tone

Then, choose the tone of your letter. ATTENTION! You can cancel writing at this step or an earlier one, but after that, it's not possible because the game schedules the answer and creates the envelope.

There are such tones as:

• Confess Your Feelings – if you're not in relationship with the recipient and have at least little positive romance level. If you receive the negative response, you can't write this type of letter to that sim again

• Flirt – for acquittances or for any teens on the lot via the school locker

• Be Friendly – for acquittances or for any teens on the lot via the school locker

• Express Deep Connection – for friends

• Express Sadness – for acquittances or for any teens on the lot via the school locker if you're sad

• Write Rudeness – for acquittances or for any teens on the lot via the school locker

• Threaten – for acquittances or celebrities or for any teens on the lot via the school locker

• Express Fanaticism – for celebrities

Choose Letter Design

There are almost 50 styles, some based on EA images and some custom! To be clear, no AI was used to create this mod or any of my other mods. The custom images are taken from Freepik with a free license, and AI is excluded. That's important to me.

For your convenience, I have separated them into four categories: event based (mostly from EA festivals), letter style (textured paper of various colors), flowers and plants, and abstract.

Write Text

Once you've chosen a design, you can write a title and text for your letter :)

Sending Letter

The letter data will be sent immediately. However, you will keep the object in your inventory if the recipient is not on the same lot — that's a limitation of the game. Afterwards, you can invite the recipient to the lot and use the "Immediately Transfer Letter" interaction on the envelope, as long as it's in your inventory.

Choose the recipient you want.

Otherwise, if the recipient is already on the lot, they will receive the envelope immediately.

Your sim will go to the closest mailbox and send the letter, if accessible. This doesn't affect gameplay, but I wanted to make it more authentic ;)

Getting Response

You will receive a response that corresponds to the tone you selected, except for fanaticism, as many celebrities tend to ignore fan letters.

You will receive a response notification within a couple of days, or possibly faster, and it will affect your relationship with the celebrity in one way or another. However, if you use the school locker, you will receive the response in a couple of hours.

The only exception is confessing your feelings. If you receive a response indicating mutual feelings, it will take the form of a dialogue, and you can then decide if you want to start an official relationship.

Read Letter

You can read the letter by selecting the "Read letter" interaction on the envelope.

By the way, the style of the envelope depends on the tone of the letter! The regular one is for friendly, sad, and fanatical letters. The heart-shaped one is for romantic letters. The black one is for mean or threatening letters.

I hope you like my attempt at drawing these envelopes, even if it's not the best ;D

• No interactions?

You didn't install the Lot51 Core Library correctly

• Some tones are missing?

The relationship between the sender and recipient does not meet the requirements, OR the sender has already confessed their feelings but received a negative response

• Envelope is left on your inventory?

The recipient wasn't on the same lot, invite them on this lot and use the 'Immediately Transfer Letter' interaction on the envelope while it's in your inventory

• Sim is signing they can't route somewhere?

They couldn't access the mailbox to run the 'Send Letter' interaction. It's fine, ignore it

• No response?

Wait more (the response may come within a couple of days). If that's the letter for a celebrity, they can ignore it

• Interaction was skipped?

No appropriate sims to send a letter
