"Release the girl!"

His single, raw roar struck all the stone walls, pillars, and ceiling and echoed. The horde of Lannister soldiers stopped right away. All the cheers died down as their heads turned towards him.

Wylis didn't care about them as he strode at speed, passing through them. The Lannister soldiers parted on their own, stricken with fear that was visible on their faces. Some brave ones who dared block his way received a simple, rough push on their faces and got thrown aside.

Finally, Wylis reached the front of the crowd where a soldier was holding Tysha by her hair. Wylis just slapped the man hard, sending him tumbling to the ground, groaning and covering his shattered ear.

He removed his enormous cloak and draped it over the little girl's shoulder, with ample left to wrap around her and cover her body. She was just thirteen or so, too young, too fragile, and completely undeserving of her misfortune.

Then he pressed a hand on her small shoulders and pushed her in front of himself, taking her away from the rabid horde of men. He took her all the way to Caliburn and hoisted her atop the tall horse's back.

At last, he looked back at Tywin Lannister, waiting for the Old Lion to speak because he knew this wasn't the end. Tywin Lannister wouldn't just allow him to snatch away his prisoner.

"What is the meaning of this, Lord Kaiser?" Kevan Lannister thundered, while Tywin looked calm, yet the slight shiver of his lips revealed the true anger.

Wylis let out a loud scoff. "I came to witness a lion's pride, not a den of debauchery. My knight's oath binds me to protect the weak, and I will not watch a child's honor be trampled before my eyes."

"Do you understand the weight of what you have done, Lord Kaiser?" Tywin Lannister spoke at last, voice low like a grumble, and calm on the surface.

"Aye." Wylis met Jaime Lannister's gaze without flinching. "I'm teaching you what it is to be a true man and a worthy knight."

"Do you know this whore's sin?" Kevan Lannister barked. "The bitch deceived young Tyrion into marrying her. A lowborn whore—"

Wylis looked at Tysha on Calburn's back. "Are you a whore?"

"N-No, m'lord, I'm not. I… Tyrion took my maidenhead and…"

"She's no whore then." Wylis looked back at Kevan.

"Why are you doing this?" Kevan interrogated.

"Because I remember the oath," Wylis replied, his gaze still on Jaime. "The very reason the realm still looks to knights and the tales told of them."

"This is no knight's tale, Lord Kaiser," Tywin said with restrained fury. "You commit a crime. You stand beneath my roof and presume to defy my law for the sake of a lowborn whore. Your oath carries no weight here."

"The laws of the Gods are above a lord's command," Wylis answered, glancing at Tysha with an easy smile. "Aye, she was wrong to wed a noble without his house's blessing. Aye, she should not have given her heart to young, naive Tyrion Lannister. Aye, the Septon had no right to join them. But I will not abide the dishonor of rape, for such deeds belong to beasts, not men. Better grant her death, would you not, Lord Tywin?"

"..."

"My lord?" Chett exclaimed. Even Caliburn stared at Wylis' face. Tysha shrank back in fright.

Wylis ignored them and looked at Tywin, waiting for an answer. Nearly everyone looked at the Old Lion for it. The guards, Kevan, and Jaime.

Finally, Tywin nodded. "Very well, I shall allow it."

"Perfect!" Wylis spun his sword, strode forward, and planted the blade into the ground. "The girl is Tyrion Lannister's wife. She is no whore, nor is she a smallfolk. She is a noble lady, and she calls for trial by combat. I shall be her champion. You may name yours, Lord Tywin."

Tywin's jaw visibly hardened. The Old Lion's green eyes narrowed fiercely.

And Wylis knew every word he spoke stretched the crack wider between them. This was the end of all amity between House Kaiser and House Lannister. But he had to, and he wanted to. He had waited enough, hoping the familiar chime would echo in his ears.

That a new Quest would appear. A new command from the Tyrant's Squire to save young Tysha. Yet that never happened. It was enough for him to realise that she was a nobody with no history, no value to the Tyrant's Squire. That Tyrant's Squire didn't care.

But he, as a knight of the realm, did. And as a hopeful Tyrant, he believed this fit the attitude Tyrant's Squire sought from him as well. Unwavering belief in oneself, the ability to stand against all odds.

The difference between House Lannister and House Kaiser was that of a mountain and a pebble.

But this pebble can move the very mountain.

Wylis silently waited for a reaction. He was prepared for all of it. The only worthy warrior there was Jaime Lannister. But Jaime himself knew he couldn't defeat him. That left the option of refusing the trial by combat and ordering the Lannister men to swarm him. But doing so would mean attacking Wylis Kaiser, whom the King considered a brother closer than real blood brothers.

Can't refuse a noble lady, sadly.

Tysha, no matter her past, was still wed to Tyrion, and the wedding hadn't been undone yet.

Wylis preferred this. His intention from the beginning was to drive the verdict to a trial by combat. He was confident in beating every Lannister soldier there, but eventually hundreds more would arrive, and he feared more for Chett, Caliburn, and his men than himself.

"You came here for trade, or so I was told, not to disgrace me." Tywin's control frayed, each word edged with restrained anger. "Do you truly expect me to welcome you after this?"

"I’ve been in Lannisport for two days now. It would seem my welcome has yet to arrive."

Tywin's chin rose. "I will give you one last chance. Behead her for her offense against my House, and I shall see this matter buried."

"Afraid of a trial by combat?"

The silence was filled with hesitation. Tywin had never seen him in a battle, but his renown as a warrior was widely known and accepted. Jaime Lannister had sparred with him plenty of times during his stay at the Red Keep years ago.

But again, years had passed.

"I will fight, Father." Jaime stepped forward, clad in his Kingsguard armor. "I'm stronger now, and quicker."

Wylis said nothing. It was Jaime's delusion to think that only he had grown. Wylis had also grown by leaps and bounds. Not just in technique, but also pure strength since he made love to all the gorgeous women in his castle regularly, and many of them made him stronger.

Jaime didn't bother wearing his helmet since Wylis didn't have one. Still, Jaime was covered in more armor, while Wylis only had thin chainmail under his gambeson, under the tunic, and a pair of pauldrons.

As Jaime stepped forward, Wylis did the same, walking into the empty area with his sword lazily slung over his shoulder.

"May the Gods' chosen prevail," Wylis said, reminding all that this was a trial by combat, and its outcome lay in the Gods' hands.

Within moments, the two knights stood face to face. Wylis moved first, gripping the hilt of his blade with both hands in front of him, knees slightly bent as he began circling. Jaime followed his movements.

"Confess, Ser Jaime," Wylis ordered coldly. "Make this right. Restore the honor of your knighthood."

Jaime's surprise flashed across his face for but a moment before it vanished. "I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about, my lord."

"Then let me jog your memory."

Shh!

Wylis stepped forward at a speed that didn't belong to a man of his size. Most saw him and assumed that he would be slow. That his swings, his feet, his strikes would be readable. But they couldn't be more wrong.

He thrusted his sword in a straight line towards Jaime. The young lion couldn't deflect in time and jumped sideways. But in the middle of the thrust, he added a sideways swing and slashed the sword in the same direction Jaime leapt.

Pa!

Wylis slapped the flat side of his blade across Jaime's back, knocking the young lion down to the ground.

"Confess your lies!" Wylis roared, stepping back and giving Jaime time to stand. "Is she a whore?"

Jaime pulled himself up, grunting, rubbing his chin as it bled from slamming onto the ground. He grabbed the sword and rushed at Wylis.

With the speed he was known for, he slashed at Wylis' leg, only to get deflected, but Jaime ducked and circled to Wylis' side for an opening.

Clank!

Jaime slashed at Wylis' shoulder. But Wylis was faster and slid his sword for a block.

Sparks flew as steel met steel.

"Didn't you say you are stronger now?" Wylis taunted.

Jaime tried to counter, kicking Wylis' knee and thrusting the sword into his stomach. But Wylis didn't even budge from that kick, and instead threw that same leg at Jaime, knocking the young lion back.

Wylis went on the offensive, slashing slow enough that Jaime got the time to block. But Wylis' strikes were so powerful that each time his blade connected, it threw Jaime's arms aside, giving him a clear opening.

If this had been a true battle, no man with a brain in that hall could deny that Jaime would have died by now. Yet the farce went on.

"Confess your lies, Ser Jaime!"

Clash!

Wylis kept pushing in.

"Have you no honor?"

Clash!

"No sense of duty?"

Clash!

"No love for your brother?"

Clash!

"So scared of your father, are you?"

Clash!

Jaime’s arms burned as Wylis slowed down and reduced the strength behind his strikes. Yet, he kept throwing Jaime from side to side. It wasn't that Jaime was a bad warrior; in a battle between Jaime and Chett, Jaime would have won easily.

But Wylis was simply too overwhelming by human standards. His raw strength exceeded all. And his skills were true, earned through years of backbreaking training.

"Speak, dammit! Do you not fear the Gods? To have allowed the rape of a girl as young as your own brother? To have denied that damn dwarf the only voice of love?" Wylis roared, uttering things he shouldn't know. But he didn't care; much of the realm knew Tywin held no love for his dwarf son.

Clank!

At last, Jaime's sword slipped from his hand. Wylis wasted no time, threw away his own sword, and stepped in, punching the young lion in the face. The first punch drew blood from the nose. He didn't break it; he was mindful of his strength.

Bam!

The second punch turned the right eye blue.

Bam!

The knee strike to the abdomen knocked all the air out of Jaime Lannister.

But Wylis didn't let Jaime fall. He grabbed the golden hair and pulled Jaime's face up so he could see into the eyes. He didn't speak loudly this time, just enough for Jaime to hear.

"Where is the knight I once sparred with? The Kingsguard who stood ready to become a kingslayer to save a city? To fall so low as to betray your own brother? Be a man, Ser Jaime. Be a bloody man."

Thud!

Finally, Wylis threw Jaime away, letting the young lion fall flat on his back, sprawled like a starfish. Wylis stood a distance away, grabbing his sword, waiting since Jaime hadn't yielded yet.

He didn't know if Jaime would speak. But he had won; it didn't matter. Tysha would live; the only question was whether the truth would come out.

For a very long time, Jaime didn't move. He remained sprawled on the ground, nose and chin bleeding, face covered with sweat and dirt, hair messy. The Kingsguard cloak was stained. Yet nobody walked over to him to help him stand. The trial by combat wasn't over.

"I yield!" Jaime shouted, at last.

But still, the knight didn't stand up.

"There's something I must confess," Jaime went on. "Tysha is no whore. She never was. She's only a crofter's daughter. The outlaws weren't hired. Father commanded me to lie so Tyrion would despise her, and the marriage could be undone. Her only crime is… that she loved my brother."

"And knight is reborn!" Wylis proclaimed and turned, walking back to Caliburn.

"W-What? W-What do you mean, Jaime?" Tyrion cried, stumbling to Jaime's side. "W-What is this? Why... Why did you lie to me?"

Jaime said nothing. Not even looking at Tyrion.

"Tysha!" Tyrion lurched forward and ran straight toward Wylis and Caliburn. "P-Please forgive me! I... I didn't know any of this. I swear by the Gods, I knew nothing."

Pa!

Wylis slapped the boy square in the face, hard enough to throw him back. But then Tyrion got up and tried to reach again, and once again Wylis slapped him, knocking him away.

"Get away! She's my wife!" Tyrion roared, tears and snot running. "Tysha, I'll be good to you. I—"

Bam!

Wylis kicked him this time, less impactful but powerful enough to throw the little body many feet away.

"The realm calls you a halfling, yet I expected at least a whole mind. You have no claim to her. You failed the only woman who ever loved you, all for the words of a father who never loved you, nor ever will," Wylis declared, seizing Caliburn's reins as he met Tywin's gaze. It was done. They were enemies now. Truth held no worth to the old lion.

"You know nothing!" Tyrion shouted.

Wylis slapped him again, harder this time, knocking him down again.

"I have seen enough to know enough. Become a man worthy, then I’ll allow you to see her. Had I not been here, and had I not chosen to honor my oath, every beast in this garrison would have raped your wife by now. Look at them!" Wylis knelt and seized Tyrion's face, forcing it toward the soldiers.

"Every one of them would have brutally claimed her, for a silver. You would have come last, for a gold. Her cries, her tears, her begging would have meant nothing to you. Love? You call that love? Men die for love, wage wars for love, not have your lover raped by a garrison!"

Seeing Tyrion was no longer getting up, Wylis pulled on the reins and spoke to Tywin.

"I shall see myself out, my lord. I'm sure the truth matters less here than the perceived slight I have caused."

The old lion said nothing back.

"Wait! It's coming!"

But just as Wylis turned, he saw Genna standing there, her hair a mess, face red, her hands clutching her belly.

"I-It's coming!"

Now?

Wylis threw the reins and ran up to Genna without wasting a moment. He lifted the woman in both his arms and turned. "Jaime, where's the damn maester?"

"This way!" Jaime shouted back, on his feet instantly. The man loved his aunt like his mother.

Leaving everything to Chett, Wylis ran behind Jaime into the castle, climbing through stairs and maze-like corridors. Jaime, despite being somewhat injured, ran as if his life depended on it. And Wylis, listening to Genna's cries, moved even faster.

Finally, they entered an opening, leading to a single door.

"Here!" Jaime threw the door open and strode inside, tossing a clean cloth over the bed himself. "Maester! Get over here at once!"

An old man with chains around his neck rushed out from an inner room, a book in hand. But as soon as the Maester saw Genna, he began moving and shouting to someone inside the maester's complex.

Moments later, healers and healing maids came out rushing.

"Wait outside, Ser, my lord."

Wylis stared at the Maester's face. "I have seen many women brought to labor beside Qyburn. If there is aught you cannot tend, or if she suffers harm, you send for me. If anything happens to her, I will kill you."

"So will I," Jaime blurted.

"Get out!" Genna screamed.

Wylis just nodded and calmly left the room. Jaime followed right behind him. Once they were outside in the wide opening, they sat down on a bench carved right into the rocky wall. To Wylis, Casterly Rock was like a fantasy dwarven lair. Carved into a rocky mountain.

I need to leave as soon as possible before Tywin gets any ideas.

Wylis sat with back straight, arms crossed, one foot twitching on the ground. But then he looked at the ground itself.

All I need is a night.

Beside him, Jaime Lannister was hunched forward over his knees, looking sullen. But then, Wylis noticed slight shaking.

"Are you crying?" Wylis asked.

"I'm not a child."

"You sound like you're crying."

"I'm not crying!"

Wylis just shrugged and focused on his own thoughts. He had to move fast, send the falcones home, and inform everyone. He needed to send them to King's Landing as well, and tell all his men to be careful of the Gold Cloaks. He needed to inform Jon about what had transpired, so he would lend aid.

Ice was his biggest earner right now, and King's Landing was the largest buyer. Tywin Lannister had the means to destroy his trade there.

But if there is no infinite gold.

"What..." Jaime said quietly. "What am I to do now, Wylis? Tyrion must despise me now."

"As he should," Wylis bluntly replied. "That poor boy has known naught but hate all his life, save from a chosen few. I know Her Grace has no love for him, and your father's deeds made that plain enough. You were all he had, and you broke his trust. The first girl to love him… she was this close to being… killed."

"She wouldn't have died."

"To a woman.. better dead than to suffer such a fate. You should hang your head in shame, Jaime Lannister. Your gold, your armor, and all your skill are worth nothing if the realm knows you only for your atrocities."

Jaime let out a weary sigh and rubbed a hand across his face. "I... I cannot bring myself to refuse my father. He... I'm ashamed to admit it, but he frightens me. How do I become like you? A man respected and loved by both nobles and smallfolk?"

"Just be kind, do right without looking for reward. This world is so rotten that even a half-decent man stands apart. More so if he's blessed with golden hair, bright armor, and a handsome face."

"That's it?" Jaime asked.

"You’re famous already, Jaime. The only difference is that the bards sing of my deeds, while yours is but a name. I rose from shoveling horse dung to wearing a lord's cloak. You went from the eldest son of the richest lord in Westeros to a knight, just as all expected. It may feel like a great leap to you, but to the realm it is scarcely a step."

"Then what am I supposed to do? It isn't my fault where I was born."

"Aye, but you never made use of your privilege either. For years I sought to impress Lord Rickard Stark with my skill. I trained in secret, praying he'd see me and make me his squire. He let that chance slip away. I could have been House Stark's most loyal hound, yet here I am, a proud lord. The greatest ripples come from those who defy the current, Jaime."

"Would you have me become a monk? Give away my coin?"

"No. But that white cloak was forced upon you by the Mad King to spite your father. I say, leave the Kingsguard and claim Casterly Rock. Put that cursed coin to proper use. Your father is a great man, but his time has passed. He proved House Lannister's strength. Any more, and he will be its ruin."

"A lord? Me?"

"Aye, only natural, but it shall make the most ripples. My deeds have lifted ten thousand souls in Ramsgate. Had I possessed your coin, the whole North would have prospered. If you seek the people's love, then heed the cries of the needy. I carry a blade in one hand and a healer's remedy in the other. That is the duty of a good lord."

Jaime stared at Wylis' face for a while, and then looked down.

"King Robert would never let me go."

"Make the choice, and I’ll ask him to grant you your freedom. Do not yield before you've even taken your first step, Jaime."

"And my brother? He hates me. I doubt he'll ever forgive me."

"Tyrion has no future as a Lannister. Your father will see to that. So see that he becomes a man worthy of Tysha instead. I will keep her safe and untouched until then."

"Make him a knight?" Jaime asked.

"No. Make him a man whose worth is measured not by his height, but by his character and wit. A good man. A wise man. That is all I have to say. Your choices are your own. Good fortune to you, Jaim—"

Clack!

The door of the Maester's room opened.

"It's a boy!"

Another one?

Wylis shot up to his feet. "Is she safe?"

"She is, my lord. Healthy, both mother and child." The Maester rejoiced. "It's a matter of celebration."

Jaime awkwardly sighed. "Go and look after her."

Once the maester was gone, Jaime turned to him. "You may stay at Casterly Rock tonight. No harm will come to you or Tysha here. But once you leave Lannisport, I'm afraid I cannot say what my father will do."

"Gold can only buy sellswords and bandits. I can handle them," Wylis replied, though he had yet to secure his own safeguard. "But I think I'll stay the night. I hope to see Lady Genna before I leave. She's a remarkable woman."

"She is. Come with me. I'll show you to your room. I'm sure the others are there already."

Wylis silently followed Jaime through the maze of Casterly Rock. He felt everything with his feet, every caress he gave the walls; he saw through. Hidden tunnels, secret accesses, tiny holes to eavesdrop. He noticed them.

Eventually, they arrived at a large complex of rooms on the western edge of Casterly Rock. The complex of rooms had its own balconies that overlooked the sea. It had enough rooms to house Wylis, Tysha, Chett, and his men. Not all of them got their rooms, but Wylis and Tysha did.

"I will bring food here myself. You won't be poisoned in here, don't worry." Jaime promised.

Wylis just nodded, unbothered. He was ready to sleep hungry that night. Not that he planned on sleeping at all.

"Go. See that your brother does not do anything foolish. Like drowning himself in whores and wine. Remind him all is not lost. Tysha lives, she is safe, and she waits."

"I will do that, my lord." Jaime bowed his head and finally left.

At last, Wylis turned towards his men, and Tysha stood between them, now dressed in decent clothes. She still looked scared since they were in the lion's den.

"No food tonight. We ride at first light, buy our own provisions, and cook them ourselves. Get your rest. Tywin is too wise to move against us beneath his own roof." Wylis ordered, then turned to his squire. "Lay your bedding by the door. Let no one pass without naming themselves and their purpose."

"Understood, my lord." Chett reacted in a voice filled with reverence.

"Good. I shall have my rest now. Do not trouble me, no matter what comes."

With that, Wylis vanished into one of the rooms and locked the door from inside.

Let's see what you are without your gold, Tywin.

####

Wylis did not rest in his room. He felt every wall with his hands to see what was beyond it. He checked every inch of the floor to ensure there was no hidden passage. Then at last, he stood in front of the wall beyond which was just the western cliffside of the mountain.

Wearing just a simple tunic and tight breeches, with large sacks slung over his back and tied, barefoot, he used Earthbending to make a hole for himself. Fresh sea breeze struck him right away, but he didn't wait and crawled out of that hole.

He was over a thousand feet above the ground there; the fall below was deadly. Still, he carefully began making bumps in the cliff for himself so he could climb down.

Casterly Rock mountain was both the home of House Lannister and also the mine itself. The gold wasn't underneath the mountain. No, it was right inside that rocky mountain, six miles wide and two miles two miles long. It was over two thousand feet high.

It made sense why the Lannisters struck gold thousands of years ago, and it was yet to run dry. However, it was true that the gold had reduced, and now the mineshafts ran for miles upon miles within the Rock.

Soon, Wylis entered the mountain again, and this time he had to swim through the rocks much deeper. He sensed his surroundings perfectly, and once he noticed a narrow mineshaft, he pulled himself inside it.

The height inside was barely enough for an average man, so Wylis had to hunch a lot. He then tried to feel for any evidence of movement in that shaft. There were no boot prints, no markings from people.

Abandoned one?

He traveled down into that mineshaft for some time, looking for any signs. Eventually, paths diverged into other mineshafts. In the end, he sighed and decided to close it anyway. He tried to be as soundless as possible, smoothly blocking the path right behind him, compressing the rocks so much that it would take far too much work to reopen it.

Eventually, he began swimming through the rocks again, focusing as much as possible and searching for an active mineshaft. Most of the upper ones he reached were empty, abandoned. He just closed them. He knew he was going down, however.

It was the sign of how much the Lannisters had dug over the years. Wylis found it truly shocking how a noble house with so much gold had barely achieved anything in its thousands of years of existence. If he had all this, he could've revolutionized everything. Armed millions of soldiers to conquer the East. Make trade fleets of tens of thousands of ships, and a navy just as mighty.

Yet the Lannisters weren't even the strongest militarily. It was the Reach.

A house drunk on gold.

Wylis reckoned he was slightly below the thousand feet mark when he finally felt movement. The sound of hammers, pickaxes, and chisels. He crawled closer to it and finally heard the voices of men at work.

He then made a tiny hole and looked. The men were working by candlelight; a total of six were there. But instead of striking, Wylis followed deeper into that mineshaft, searching for its end. Slowly, he mapped out all of it, all its branches and other edges. More than a hundred men were working on the vein itself.

Yet Wylis didn't strike. He knew there had to be more veins. So, at the same depth, he searched for other mines. As he looked around, he thought of the aftereffects of what he was about to do.

It will take them years to reopen these shafts.

In the absence of Lannister gold, the crown will face a crisis. House Lannister must have hidden gold somewhere, most likely at the Iron Bank. But with mines shut, House Lannister won't spend on everything blindly. It would weaken Westerlands, and when the Greyjoy Rebellion happens, the damage would be worse.

Westeros' economy itself would suffer. However, Wylis reckoned it would serve him well. More poor and desperate people meant more eager souls in Ramsgate looking for a new life. He'd rather have all of Westeros suffering than leave one single house like the Lannisters thriving.

Tywin still won't sit still. I should visit King's Landing on my return journey. Trade must flow.

Pondering, he eventually mapped a dozen more mineshafts. Some veins were being worked by a dozen men, some by over a hundred.

He didn't know how many hours had gone by. But he knew he had the entire day, and the entire coming night to himself. His orders were definite; Chett wouldn't let anyone enter his bedchamber.

He spent the entire day swimming around, sensing mineshafts. He closed all the empty ones, and memorized all the ones being currently mined. Thanks to his mighty stamina, he was able to map the entire width and length of the mountain around a thousand to five hundred feet mark.

There was still so much gold left in that mountain that Wylis couldn't help but feel uneasy. Once he'd gone below the edges of the currently open mineshafts, he'd found chunks of gold, big enough to dwarf him, entire untouched veins thick with gold. He reckoned this would last House Lannister another thousand years or two.

Can't allow that.

Wylis wanted to delay it as much as possible. So, he began compressing rocks around the veins so they'd be extremely difficult to reach. He also created a few fake compressed sections, so miners wouldn't think there was a pattern behind finding veins.

He hardened hundreds of meters of areas around the bigger vein mouths, and didn't bother going too deep. Wylis needed only a few years to grow Ramsgate and its military strength enough to dominate Westeros.

Finally, after finishing the chaos below, he moved back up to the open mines currently being worked on. He couldn't bring himself to kill all those miners simply working to feed themselves or their families.

He'd heard them talk here and there. The men spent days at a stretch in those mines, some even weeks. And their pay was meager, and they were checked by guards before leaving. Still, he'd heard that some desperate ones would eat gold chunks and hope it would come out of their ass later.

So, Wylis decided to scare them away.

Ugh, at this rate all nobles might fear inviting me to their castle. First the Twins and now Casterly Rock.

First, Wylis created a cavity for himself to stand, right behind the wall of a mineshaft. Then, he pressed his hands to the ground and channeled Earthbending in waves, gently shaking the very ground of the mine.

He slowly increased the intensity.

"It's a quake! Run!"

As expected, the men felt it and equated it to an earthquake. A mine was the worst place to be in that case, and they ran away, throwing away all their tools and collected gold.

Wylis waited for a bit, and then entered the mineshaft. He looked down at the sacks of gold, collected only fist-sized chunks, and put them in his own bag. It wasn't stealing, just some compensation for his time wasted, his efforts, and some of it would go to Tysha.

"Alright, let's do this."

Finally, he began collapsing that entire mine, compressing the earth so hard that where it had taken ten strikes of a pickaxe, now it would take fifty. It was tiring, backbreaking work, but he couldn't afford to be lazy.

Once done with that mine, he went to the other and repeated. He scared the men away, grabbed the biggest gold chunks, and collapsed the mine.

Then again.

Then one more.

He gave some extra love to the bigger mines.

Dozens, then hundreds of men ran out, screaming "quake". And perhaps they heard the sound of mines collapsing behind.

Wylis repeated the same action with every single mine he had found. And then, once they were done, he traced the same pathways upwards, since those mines ran for miles from above in zigzags. While those parts were emptied centuries ago, they were still the main pathways to reach the deeper areas.

He collapsed them as well, cutting off the gold mines completely.

Ten years maybe? No, it might take more.

What Wylis had done would force House Lannister to rely on their stored gold. This would rip away that absolute pride and confidence that came from endless gold. This would force Tywin Lannister to either become humble or watch his House decline. This would make Cersei think twice before doing something foolish, which was improbable.

The decline is destined, then.

But it won't happen right away. House Lannister would put up a fight first.

Until the Ironborn strike, that is.

Tired, panting, with two sacks full of gold chunks on his back, Wylis once again came out of the west-side cliff of the Rock. He climbed up again, tracing his steps. The morning sun was already starting to illuminate the sky. He’d spent a whole day and a whole night destroying the Lannister mines.

Eventually, he returned to his bedchamber, patched the hole in the wall, and collapsed on the bed.

Let's leave while Tywin's busy dealing with this crisis.

He knew he wouldn't find any rest now, nor in the coming days. Not until he had left the Westerlands.

Ting!

Catching his breath on the bed, eyeing the ceiling, the blue screen appeared.

[Hidden Quest Completed - Kill The Competition!
Description - The river has run dry, yet the rock sits filled. Crush the lion so only Tyrant's roar may remain.
Goal - Cut Lannister gold supply.
Reward - Goldsniffer Skill - Smell buried gold from miles away.]

Hmm, pretty useful.

Ting!

[New Tyrant's Title - The Omnious Giant
Description - A legend has formed around you. Those who dare scheme against the Tyrant receive heavenly retribution.
Effect - Nobles are scared of you when you stand within their castle.]

How is this useful?

Knock! Knock!

"My lord, we are ready to depart."

Right then, Chett's voice came from the door.

Wylis got up with a groan, eyes baggy, his body tired. He opened the door and allowed Chett to enter. "Give me a moment to get dressed."

Chett's eyes spanned the entire room. Instantly, the squire noticed the two heavy sacks by the bed.

Wylis smirked. "Go on, take them. But see that you hide them well."

Confused, Chett reached for the sacks and looked inside, only to let out a tiny gasp.

"This is… My lord?"

"Reparations."

Cersei’s going to be *pissed* he humiliated house Lannister, her brother, and father. Not to mention saved Tyrion’s wife and also made him a victim in the eyes of the realm.

I think you might have forgotten Cersei seems to be constantly fantasizing about Wylis dominating her in bed and hasn't thought of Jamie in that way for awhile. I think it will turn her on and want him even more knowing that Wylis is such a man he wasnt afraid of even her father and all his men. Especially when Tywin is like the Boogie man to all his children, so imagine how turned on she will be when she learns that Wylis made Tywin look like a punk and beat up the lion Prodigy. I think we are gonna see her get her walls stretched pretty soon, especially since Lyanna demanded he do her lol. I am all for it though its a pity for Robert but its his fault to instead of being a slob chasing whore's he should have thoroughly conquered his wife first. So Wylis is just doing his due diligence lmao

Wish the system rewarded him for staying true to his convictions, something like knights under him will be stronger in upholding the knight code rather then fall into their own temptations

A
Awron Zizao · August 3, 2026

Since it's the Tyrant System maybe more like "More likely to stay true to their Lords values."?
