Content question!
Hey everyone, I am deep in writing A Hero's Rebirth Ch. 11, and I came across a scene that made sense to me, but I could include it or not, and there are pros and cons to each. So, since you guys are my most ardent supporters, I thought I'd let you guys have a voice here, and since it was something I think any of my readers may have feelings about I have made it free.
The issue is this: There is a scene I just wrote involving the Shadow Elves that would be considered Futa, I believe (female temporarily given male genitalia) and I know people have opinions on that. The point of the scene is showing one of the ways Shadow Elves deal with their male shortage. I don't give it my traditional in depth sex-scene treatment, and currently I fade to black once it is obvious what is happening. I could probably leave it out and not miss out on anything. We know the Shadow Elves have ways. It also kinda shows the downsides of that kind of thing in this world when we come out of the fade to black.
Pros: It shows context, is lore for Shadow Elves, and answers questions about magic interacting with sex. It also further shows how Shadow Elf society has become.
Cons: You will read a short, very vague description of a Shadow Elf maiden having magic used to give her a penis for the purpose of pleasuring a matron, and you know what happened even if it cuts out at the command to perform intercourse, and comes back with the two laying separately on the bed.
Could go either way: It isn't detailed.
So that means that we have a number of thoughts that people could have here, and I would like to know what my audience actually thinks here. So please go ahead and respond to the survey, I'll leave it up until I have to either take the scene out before sending it to my editors, or I'm sending it to my editors with that scene in.
I won't be offended, no matter what people say. If you want to further clarify, I will be watching the comments, and probably responding. Liking comments you agree with will also tell me things about my audience.

Is the act an integral part of the storyline? Does it move the story forward? Does it set up a future scene that is needed? We already know how evil the Shadow Elves are. You've already stated that the males travel with the warriors. Is there a reason for this scene? If so, leave it in. If it is not needed, with you questioning it, why have it in the story? I was going to ask if the magic follows your "rules" established in previous chapters, but then found my own answer...I think it would be transformation magic. Either way...it's your world and your story. We get to be a part of it when we read them. I'll read it either way, but also glad that you are not focusing on the acts of the Shadow Elves. Personally, I want more with our Hero and his Matrons...including the new ones. Looking forward to where you take the story.
It is transforming magic, you are correct. As for the "integral part of the storyline", no but it does patch a "plot hole". It clarifies the way things work, and solves a problem people have asked about. So, there is a reason for the scene.
I just saw a YouTube about this. If your story has a character do something, nasty, despicable or disgusting, your story needs to acknowledge this, giving the reader permission to judge the character and not the story. 39 words and 128 words sound like it to me. But definitely not something I want to read beyond that.
Yeah, the 39 words is the lead up to a fade to black. The 128 is the coming back from the fade to black, and I am definitely giving you permission to judge. It is just another, "Remember, Shadow Elves are Evil" moment, for sure. So, this scene isn't glorified, dwelt on, or even presented as tolerable. It is an evil person abusing power and authority for sexual satisfaction at the expense of another. The closest it gets to any sort of justification is. "Great, now that I'm sated I can think straight." Which, if you are saying is a justification, then you are justifying "Well, if I rape this chick, I can get her out of my head." That is just as bad for me. Sure I am writing "What Happens in the Dark", but I think that is kind of a case where we all know what he's doing is wrong, even if it is hot. This case, it is wrong, and I don't let it be hot.
as long as it is the only one of its kind and so short its skippable without ruiningt the story im ok with it i may take flak for this but i do compleaty hate a despise futa trans stuff but i do love a heros rebirth only story i read tbh lol
Literally it is a skipped scene in the story. If you can handle "Shadow Elf cast spell, now this Shadow Elf maiden has a male appendage..... well, that was good enough. There, now her male appendage is gone." That is all it is. I know that is terribly graphic and descriptive, but I feel like people can manage that. And I'm with you. People can call me snonbish, or prudish, but I'm equally not into the futa, trans, crossdressing, and such stuff. So I think you're safe with what I produce, because if there is anything there, it is going to be freaking minimal.
I'll draw the line at gay contend (male on futa, futa on male), everything else is fair play. I'd even entertain Amura growing herself a dick to double team one of the matrons (Helianthu? Ouarf!!!). And please wait for Tuk to be of age before doing anything with a dragon ;-)
Lol. I don't think you have to worry. Based on how the scene is going, you won't have to tolerate anything like that. Not only is Thomas not involved in any futa things, futa things are shown to be... not exactly pleasant for the futa. So it actually is going to answer the "if this can happen, why doesn't Thomas do it with his girls?" Answer: because such an unnatural transformation wrecks the person being transformed. So no worries about it ever happening with Thomas, because he has grown to love all his matrons and wouldn't put any of them through that. And if anything ever happens with Truk, it will be after she is of age. (So probably not in A Hero's Rebirth, but maybe a follow-up series.)
Everything on Lit is uncomfortable for someone. You've already covered polyamory, torture, furries, interracial (interspecies), and you say there's more than one god. Your description seems to suggest this scene isn't a commentary on futa, but on the depths the shadow elves will sink (is the she-elf forced?). This story is so good I doubt you'll lose readers or followers over one scene.
You are correct, it is a Shadow Elf Slave maiden who is transformed and forced to perform. She was forced to perform oral first, but that wasn't enough, so it gets stepped up.
I just want to point out that Sarah Hawk in the series Elf Slave has dark elves using futa, so there is precedent for this. Perhaps a quick read of how it's done there (it's somewhat explicit) could give some insight on which way you want to go with this.
I believe there are people that are fans of this. There is enough porn of it that I know at least someone likes it. I just know it's not everyone's thing. Honestly, it isn't really my thing. I am not itching to write it, or I would have written it by now. I just felt like this was a piece of world building, an answer to the question "how do they deal with the cum addiction problem?" among the Shadow Elves. Because I believe we already know that Dark Elf masters are used, magically recharged, and used again, passed around among multiple matrons, and still the Dark Elves need more masters. This has probably helped with their numbers, but does leave the possibility of Shadow Elves being left wanting and waiting longer than they like, so how do they deal with it. This just answers that question. And the question of what they do when they are on a mission with no master around.
I'm not really gonna be bothered either way, happy for it to fade to black, or be detailed, author's choice. All it's gonna do for me as a reader is further cement the depravity of the Shadow Elves, which by this point isn't a surprise.
That's kinda why it is there. That and the "How do the Shadow Elves deal with the sex craving problem." I figured some people were going to speculate this kinda thing happens anyway. Like the Potterheads that are like "I'd do a polyjuice body swap with my partner to find out what sex is like from the opposite gender." This way I can at least show what does and doesn't work there. Give context and lore. So, better to just answer the questions as a couple of sentences in one of the chapters, rather than have people pester me about it in the comments. Because I'm sure eventually someone would ask the questions.
Hi NP eagerly waiting for chapter 11… thank you for your work!
Happy to do it. I'm really enjoying all of my stories, but A Hero's Rebirth is my favorite of my current stories for sure.
Don’t really care… not my preference. Could you like mark the section of the scene happening but not the stuff around it that talks about the reasoning and stuff (the world building I mean). That would probably help the readers not interested to still get the context. I’m all for world building and you probably have a good reason at the back of your mind.
As I said above, the total amount of time that it is a think for is 39 words from "Character starts casting magic" to the Shadow Elf ordering the transformed maiden "Service me". The total description is "There was a male appendage." The rest is straight up skipped. I don't know how much less I could have there.
If people have a problem with this in a world of elves, dragons and magic then it's their problem. Write what you want, it's my favorite series of yours
See, that was where I allowed myself to even go there. Currently, there are three sentences of it being there (39 words), and another nine short sentences of "it happened" (128 words). I figured that was a drop in the bucket, and would be breezed over, and I don't plan on bringing it back up ever again. So I just figured that was plenty of context to a Shadow Elf solution to the Sex Craving problem. But I do want to know if 90% of my readers are going to go "Screw you, I hate that."
It wouldn't stop me from reading, but it will likely cause some of your readers to drop off. If it isn't necessary, I wouldn't start including something like that at this stage of the story.
That is why I am doing this survey. I wanted to be able to get a good Idea of how bad that effect would be. I am currently literally doing as little as possible but it answers questions about how a Shadow Elf matron can go so long away from a male, because I know people are going to think that is a plot hole without it.
