Poll Results and Thoughts

Not sure if you all can see the results of the Polls, but it looks like Too Good To Be True will be getting the next chapter. Additionally, my poll about the potential of creating a second tier for those who want early access to 1st chapters I am making as sort of an anchor point for my ideas honestly kinda surprised me. I was expecting a significant pushback, but only one of the "negative" responses got any votes at all, and if everyone that voted that way agreed with the comments of GsG3n, they didn't even really mean it in a negative way! So, I'm going to start working on that. I'll have to get them edited, and I'm not going to put up the tier until I have a few chapters to put up.

It has been interesting, thinking about all the stories I've thought up. I'd say there are kind of two major categories of these stories: "Unabashed Smut" and "Adult Novel". For example, looking at my current stories, I'd say most fall into my "Unabashed Smut" category. "A Very Friendly Neighborhood", "Art is My Favorite Class" "Hypnotherapist", "Too Good To Be True", and "What Happens in the Dark" all are far more about the kinks, sex and relationships than they are about an overarching story. That's not to say they don't have an overarching story, and that I'm going to make sure it has a solid conclusion to exists, but the focus is more on hot sex then on story. For many of them, my initial idea was simply the sex scenes I wanted to write, and my story built around them. However, when I started on "A Hero's Rebirth" , the idea was the over-arching theme and plot, with the simple idea of "and he gets a harem", along with the simple reason, was all the sex planning I had. This puts it for me, more in the Adult novel category. Based on the reactions, I'd say that my Adult Novel is a hit.

Many of my new stories fit more into the category of Adult Novel, and I'm happy about that. I don't think I've been shy about the fact that when I published chapter 1 of "A Hero's Rebirth", I fully expected it to be a flop, and it wouldn't really get a following. The reaction has been overwhelming and I'm so grateful to everyone who encourages me and gives me any kind of support. I'm very excited for a number of my Adult Novels, and I have great hope that you'll enjoy them too.

That being said... I also enjoy writing my "Unabashed Smut". I currently have plot lines for over 30 stories (which is the reason I'm so adamant about finishing my current stories before launching into any of them, if I tried to write 40 stories at once, I'd never finish any of them, because it would keep ballooning until it is just undoable), and a good number of them are Unabashed Smut. I'll be writing both, and I hope you all enjoy the steamy smut for what it is, and the more intense Adult Novels for what they are.

I will also point out, however, that whether a story is Unabashed Smut or Adult Novel, there are more types of plot and objectives than "intense action thriller". A romance plot, a developing relationship, and other non-fiction elements ARE plot and story elements. It's sort of like how anime (Japanese animations) can be categorized as Shonin (targeted at a young male audience) or Shojo (targeted at a young female audience), and what you expect from each varies wildly. Shonin is more about flashy fights, revenge, and mindblowing animation. Shojo, however, often will go the entire series without a single fight scene, with plenty of quite moments as romance builds, relations develop and complications are thrown between destined lovers. Some Shojo have fight scenes, but often they are more for the purpose of demonstrating the peaks and value the combatants have already developed, instead of serving ad moments of growth for the combatants. This often leads to criticisms of "lack of development" or "uninspiring" characters, especially male ones. This entirely misses the point. The development isn't physical or technical, but emotional and social. Both are valid, and I am trying to write both.

So, I guess, thank you guys for everything, and I hope you continue to enjoy my work. Sorry if that got a little "rant-y", I hope I'm preaching to the choir. I have big plans, lots of ideas and I'm hoping that you all are buckled it. It won't be a short roadtrip, and I hope you guys enjoy every stop along the way.

Tangential to the actual poll, but have you considered adding an Annual option?

I just got notification that was an option. I'm haven't looked into it much, but if people want that, I'm sure I could work it out... I mean, usually the reason I go for an annual option is that usually it is cheaper. But I mean, how much cheaper than $1 a month do you want?

Yep not negative in anyway. Just liked the idea, you being crazy thinking we would not want to read what you write. 😉

Indeed. The fine art of figuring EXACTLY what people want through text on the internet... it is a fun little dance, isn't it? Then I generally had to assume that everyone who voted with you agreed with your interpretation. This poll was an interesting exercise for me.
