Tom, before I started watching your videos I was a full on import guy who didn't care for any v8 but now you really made me want a 1st gen mustang for myself. Do you think you could make an informational video about the mustangs engine and transmission options and your opinion on the different platforms?
Well first off welcome to rust in your eyes, population: you, me, and everyone else who likes big growly tire smoking V8s. Second of all when it comes to your first gens, that entails everything from 1964.5 all the way to 1970 (maybe through 73? I've heard that somewhere) A majority of your Stangs 65-68 will be either I6 cars which I don't know much of but the Ford sixers are super reliable, or they,ll be 289 or 302 V8 cars. 289s and 302s are both very similar (almost the same) they both like RPM, they both have tons and tons of parts available. As for if you got REAL lucky and found a big block car, I believe those model years you have your 390 cube V8s which are great platforms for strokera and big cubic inches, BUT they're very hard to find and expensive to build. If you found a rolling shell a 70s 351W or 351C would be a great swap and would give you a lot of low end torque for fairly cheap, would fit decently in the small car, and would give you something a bit more out there than a tradition 302 or 289. "Roller" 302s, meaning the 5.0 Liter factory roller cam engines found in Foxbody Mustangs and a few Lincolns, Mercurys, and Ford pickups in the 80s and 90s are definitely the best bang for your buck beginner swap for a rolling shell first gen stang. Great power from the factory, very reliable, TONS of parts and kits available for em. They can be easily converted to a carburetor setup or if you'd prefer to be brave and like the modern touches you can keep the EFI and make the necessary fuel system upgrades and wiring to your classic to support it. Hope this helps, I'm not much of a Mustang guy but I know a guy who knows a LOT and I've gleaned plenty over the years.

If anyone is interested in my project I have a 98 GMC single cab in blue- no rust. Well the cab corners are weak and there’s a spot on the door (I have another door) It’s a 4.3 I just put a newer 4L60e in it, new pioneer touch screen, back up camera, speakers, new cover on the dash to make it look new, I put a seat from a extended cab so I have a center console in the bench seat, I’m currently working on the cruise control because it won’t even turn on (with a new switch) so I assume it’s the module, it’s got the 454 SS wheels on it with white letter GripMax tires This has been an ongoing project for about a year and I finished it on Saturday. Well finished for now
