I would would be more interested in F-scalade if It had some sort of goal in mind besides just the body swap. Maybe like a manual swap or perhaps a drag setup on it would be badass. I know it would be a ton of strenuous work though. Just a thought man. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to all of us young car nuts!

I kind of understand the don’t become a mechanic if you like working on cars in a sense but also not. I’ve been doing flips and working on cars since before I was 10 with my brother and i’ve always loved it. Took a college level automotive training class and ended up having the time of my life and meeting a bunch of awesome people. After that went to ford for 1 year and now i’m at toyota for 2. I’m 1 month away from 22 and am a fully certified tech with 4 ase’s so far. I absolutely love working on cars and yes they piss me off sometimes but honestly it’s the same thing as what your saying with college, it’s a very good experience and it’s training me for being even better at flips.

I would love to see like a podcast format like , talking strategies not consistently you have enough going on, but just every once in a while, you talk about things you’re passionate about with people around you I think that would be really cool.

Hey Tom, I signed up for a technical college for Auto mechanics for the 2026 semester, I never really had plans on going to college. I Am currently 19yo but have had the love for cars since I was really young, but I've never really got my hands dirty with cars. do you have any tips just in case I go through "burnout"?
Well I ain't Tom but I am an old muscle car guy and a full time mechanic and what's helped the most with me is to try and work on things that are far removed from your project cars. I couldn't own a newer Cadillac or Ford at this point because I despise working on them for customers. But I can still enjot working on old junk. So if you like newer cars maybe try and work on things like heavy equipment, buses, or something that just gives you a bit of separation from hobby and work so you don't resent your projects. Hope this help brotha

Tom, I know I comment this a lot, but this really is the best automotive content on YouTube. It isn't overproduced and over advertised like Donut, or as click baity as Whistlin. It genuinely just makes it feel like you're kicking it with a dude fixing up shitty (and sometimes nice) cars. Keep up this shit dude

Damn camera man got himself a nice 10th gen. My first truck was a 10th gen v6 auto and by far the best thing I ever did to liven it up and make it look better was lightning headlights and changing the lower valence to a fog light one from an expedition that had closed off tow hook holes. The slots and harness for fog lights should already be installed in it as long as its newer than 99 and all you gotta do is plug a new switch in the dash for it. And the best semi loud but also deep tone exhaust i did was a single flowmaster 40 series turned out the side with the cats deleted and it was perfect with a little bit of tint and a 4.10 gear swap I absolutely loved it to death. Also the 4.2 will live at 10psi of oil pressure at idle for a very long time and still survives rev limiter just fine lol
As a dakoder fan the last 5 mins of the video had me sweating bullets thinking it was gone lol. Cant wait to see how things go from here with the business and videos.

Went to a technical college bc i had a scholarship for weldin/manufacturing and I got myself a good job i don't mind so I can always be amped up for workin on my hotrod and be able to afford the hobbies! I tell people do you like fixing everyday cars, or do you enjoy upgrading hot rods. And if they choose the 2nd one mechanic work isn't it

Hey Tom, as somebody who's still in high school and wanting to venture more into cars in the future but don't wanna work as a 9-5 mechanic or a job that'll get me hating what I do, what's a relatively versatile job that you would put on the table for somebody that hasn't even graduated high school yet, I'm aware there's lots of answers to this question but rather what would you specifically bring to attention when future wise trying to find myself a enjoyable but lucrative job?
Im huge into cars and have a foxbody myself I've had for 5 years and everyone told me to be a mechanic, but I chose to be a welder an went to school for it, and I was told find a job that u dont mind that pays good so you can afford your hobbies an not work your life away, I use welding all the time with old vehicles and making custom parts!

Hey tom I’m looking for some honest car advice I’m currently in high school I’m just about finished my junior year i’ve got a really steady job that pays me pretty well. and I’m currently trying to sell my current protect truck and buy something else with the money my problem is I can’t make up my mind on what kind of car I want. I would get a lot more practical use out of a truck, but I can’t find anything that I really really like within my budget (10k-9500k depends on how the truck stuff sells for) but when I look at like old-school muscle cars or like some of the stuff that you’re selling some of it is at least close to my price range and it would be a lot of fun to drive especially since I’m still in high school so what would you suggest Tom I’ve asked everybody and still get a bunch of different answers and after meeting you in person at the drag strip and watching your videos for the past couple years, I know you’ll give me some decent advice. So what do you think
I think 9500 is an incredibly good budget. I would recommend you buy a cheap truck (clean S10, ranger etc) to make money with, and then find a cheap but cool project car with the rest of the money. Good deals on old stuff pop up all the time. You can get a solid G body, Foxbody, even old Mustang for 5k.

Tom, a little off topic I guess but while I do love the current style of videos you do on YouTube, I kind of miss the skits. Earlier on in your yt career everything was a lot more comedy focused and it’s what really got me hooked and even got my non car guy friends hooked as well, and you’ve kind of strayed from that formula. Still love your stuff, but I’d love to see some more of that in the future
I agree with you. The issue with the comedy is that it takes more time. I love the skits so much and we still have many ideas, but it's challenging to make time for them around producing two vids a week.
Tom, you should add exhaust hangers to speedys equipment, I have bought a muffler from speedys but realized I needed hangers and I don't have a welder, congratulations on college!

I absolutely agree with the comment of do not be a full time mechanic if you like cars. Went to tech school out of high school and was a full time mechanic for 2 years. Hated it man, found a much better paying and enjoyable job and now enjoy working on my own stuff again

Tom I think your YouTube “issue” (me personally I like every vid you put out) with finding new cars and thus a new audience is the lack of variety in the cars that you choose to make videos on. It seems like an easy solution but genuinely I think going more broad could work in your favor to capture other audiences. Most videos are either 60s muscle or 90s-2000s american cars, I think taking on an E55 or C63 or 70s boats even an 80s fox body could draw in new viewers rather than cater to the same audience. I’m sure you’ve already thought of this and hate working on new stuff just thought I’d give my two cents I’ve been a viewer since the first Masutangu video.

An idea for exhaust parts: square boom tube style tips, its hard for me to explanations but ive tried to fi d old school exhaust tips and when I do they're either 300 bucks a piece, or they don't exist🤣 Also this type of vid is great, thanks for the advice, and instead of college (I HATE school) I'm gonna go to welding school, afterwards I should get a full time job, and on weekends I'm gonna do hotrod shit on the side🔥

Im an 18 year old who just graduated highschool and am now working as a full time mechanic because I love cars. It sucks to hear so many people say it ruins your love for cars because I don’t know what else I would do. Thoughts ?
Here's my two cents from a totally different line of work. I got into programming because I loved solving puzzles and building things. 5 years in I came to find that all I ever did was boring corporate web portals with the same old problems every day. A job is a job; it will pay your bills and God willing put a roof over your head. But at the end of the day it's going to be repetitive, and frustrating. The skills you learn will uniquely place you to work on the things you love. Stick at it and you'll have the skills and finances to work on what you really want to work on in your own time. Seek fulfilment in those side projects, and if my experience is anything to go off, you'll probably learn more from those side projects than your day-to-day work.

Its going to sound corny but I found TomsRefurb back when Hot tamata was introduced and watched it since and constantly rewatch videos but im the beginning tom was just a cool guy with cool cars but as time goes on as a 19 year old tom became a role model for me and the type of person i want to be, seeing someone grow over years and especially being so close just makes my small dreams seem so attainable.

Social media man here, your biggest competitor will be uhaul so just keep that in mind when competing with prices,availability, and marketing. Maybe with one car trailers you can find a certain niche

I learned that when I was a lube tech at 16. 21 now;I went to school for collision and i absolutely love it. Still wrench on my cars and don’t hate it because they aren’t crashed lol
