Lost Bananza Glitches!
Hello you exceptionally exceptional Patreon people!
I hope all of you are doing fantastically, that the radio is only playing your favorite songs for the next 27 hours straight and that Super Mario Maker 3 will feature fuzzies in your favorite colour!
The Bananza Ostrichless video and the will-there-ever-be-a-Mario-Maker-3 video are online and I’m quite happy with how they turned out!
Those videos are however not a video about glitches in Bananza nor Bananza without touching gold as I teased last time?
So what happened here?
Well, that’s actually a kinda funny story!
You see, I actually started to work on a video about glitches in Bananza.
Low and behold - I had learned enough glitches in the game to fill almost a half an hour long video!
I had even recorded all of them.
And I’ve even written a half an hour long script about all those glitches - as a matter of fact I had waffled the entire thing in my microphone when all of a sudden … I had an idea!
“Holy fuzzy” I thought, “that short five minute bit about how the speedrunning community got rid of the ostrich in this glitch video really deserves to be it’s own thing!”
That’s such a fun story!
And thus I decided to throw away most of the video I had already recorded and to write an entirely new script about how the speedrunning community hunted down the ostrich.
I was able to salvage roughly half the work I had already done - the other half however just didn’t fit the new premise anymore, which means I had to throw away dozens of hours of work.
The second half of this Patreon update is actually a showcase of those glitches that didn’t make it into the speedrun video!
Allright so I had to throw away half a video and redo the other half - on its own that’s not that noteworthy.
It honestly happens all the time that I start to work in one direction for a video, only to realize that another direction is more interesting.
The reason this video was so debilitating to produce is actually something else.
You see, I rewrite the script, I research all the bird-hunting lore I can find, I waffle the thing into a microphone again and of course I immediately get my annual COVID infection.
Cough, sniff, sneeze.
Since the video was already a week over schedule when I got sick I decided to work on it even while sick, so that my little one-week-long glitch project doesn’t end up taking me a month to produce.
And thus I took it a bit slower and cut the whole thing together while burning through what usually would be enough handkerchiefs for a decade.
But low and behold, finally, the video is finished!
Given how troubled the whole production was, I’m honestly baffled that the end result is watchable - but I think in the end the video turned out fine!
And thus I upload the video and then it ends up clicking terribly!
Oh no!
For once however I do not think the almighty algorithm is to blame.
Bananza seems not to get much interest on YouTube in general.
Most channels that I follow that covered Bananza had those videos perform well below their average.
The video did recover somewhat and it’s honestly no big deal if a video clicks a bit less than usual, the only reason I even mention it, is because it makes me wonder if Bananza is selling below expectations for Nintendo.
At least on YouTube there just isn’t much interest in the game.
Anyway - after all of this I decided to take a bit of a break from Bananza and thus I did the Mario Maker 3 write up as a palette cleanser.
Which is the story of the Mario Maker video.
Hooray!
In case you are wondering, the goldless video is the next thing I’m working on - I expect that one to take roughly 3 weeks and afterwards we are either doing a little thing for Mario Maker’s 10th anniversary or another little really fun and dumb thing that I’ve been working on and off for ages now!
So given my track record, I’d expect a video about how Metal Gear Solid incorporates Motherhood into its narrative next - alongside a glitch compilation of Kuru Kuru Kururin.
The next patreon update will be after those two videos!
Awesome! The rest of this little update will be a compilation of the glitches that didn’t make it into the ostrich video.
I won’t post a transcript for those because it doesn’t make much sense to read about glitches without seeing them, does it?
Before we end this little update however - as always - a huge and gigantic thank you to every single one of you for your generous support!
You are all amazing and I can’t thank you enough!
Lot’s of hugs to all of you!

It was super jarring to watch the Mario Maker video and hear you misgendering GameChamp at the end!! She has been pretty clear about using she/her pronouns!
There's talk among YouTubers that channels with more tech-savvy audiences have had view counts go down drastically lately because of a change in the AdBlock extension that blocks counting of the view. People using ad blockers suddenly stopped getting counted. If the Bananza video did worse than expected, it may be that view counts are going to be down in general now, regardless of the content. I hope I'm wrong, but you should look into it.
Which is sad because the best channels also have more adblocker users.
They can't think of a way to turn SMM3 into an open world with 900+ collectibles.
Really enjoyed the Mario Maker 3 video. Do you think there is a good chance that Mario Maker 3 could incorporate a true 3D mode? Or is that maybe out of reach?
I think there is a very good chance that they might do a slightly toned down 3D editor. Something like block-based level creation that allows us to build levels similar to how we build bases in minecraft could work!
I appreciate the extra little glitch video from 3:33 onward my friend. I agree with your take on the DK series as a whole; If you look solely at YT coverage. Thus said I wonder how many people bought it simply for the fact it was a new game for a new console with little games at the time of this recording/comment. Even with that to help boost the sales, Nintendo lost all their momentum when they started announcing "DLCs." At the end of the day, gaming is in an odd state in general these days... *shrug*
