can they only talk in english? or can the characters speak other languages?
Not just English! Characters can talk in other languages too. Set the chat language and pick a voice that supports it, since the voice picker shows which languages each voice speaks. The AI replies in your language, speech recognition picks it up when you talk, and the voice reads it back. Most major languages work well, so just give it a try in yours.
