Nano Workshop: I Turned 1 Metre Into a Dream Electronics Lab

Come and see my “Nano Workshop” electronics zone which I've built inside a 1 metre-wide space using Gridfinity, openGrid and modular 3D printed organisation systems.

In this tour I show how I organise tools, components, soldering gear and electronics projects for maximum making speed, while keeping the whole workspace endlessly adaptable as my hobbies evolve.

Along the way I share some of my favourite free 3D prints, workshop organisation ideas and the little systems that make projects faster, cleaner and more enjoyable.

I'll be doing a detailed walkthrough with extra bits for you soon with even more details - there was too much cool pieces to show in one sitting!

Organisation is the key to everything. Since organising my Workshop, Honey Room (Bees) and craft room my ADHD brain is so much more focussed on the tasks. It’s just a shame I don’t look anywhere near as attractive as you when I’m carrying out said tasks. Keep it up….

What the heck?? Did you say Honey Room??! I want to know everything!! I love bees!! I've thought about a 3d printed hive system!! But yes, organisation is key.... and bees. They're amazing!! 🐝

I always have multiple electronics projects open, which quickly turns your workbench into a mess. But I do enjoy your clean workspace.

I'll cover this in a patreon extra video this week! This is part of the secret, being able to 'juggle' projects is super important!!

I admire your organization. The problem I have is that woodworking tools are normally too large for the gridfinity boxes. I have found that putting all the accessories for a particular tool in a 3d printed box where the box is custom sized for the items it will contain. So far, it has been helpful but the shop is still chaotic.

Check out Neogrid! That's what I use mainly in the woodworking areas!! Another video I should cover at some point!

Inspiration to get my shop organized, while not as many hobbies as you - I do a bunch of wiring and got some great tips

Great to hear! And yes, I'd find things easier if I had fewer hobbies.... but hey!! 😂

That looks amazing. Would make things so much easier I think I'd leave knee space though. Hopefully to reduce electronics back ache

Oh it's the sitting that gives me backaches, I definitely opt for standing desks where I can!!
