FAQ - Questions request!

Hey y'all

We're gunna make a detailed FAQ resource as we get asked similar questions a lot, so please submit some questions! I think it would be good for us to expand and edit it over time. Feel free to reply here or on the Twitter post (below)!

Examples:
How to improve as an IGL?
How to get into Coaching?
Why did we make our first free guide around Gekko when both of us hate him with a deep-seated passion?

PS we will be posting a KJ KAYO ranked guide tomorrow for Ascent Defence (paid tier) and announcing our giveaway this week

A little late to this thread, but I think a guide purely for the fundamentals of the game and teamplay would be great. Trading, taking space, orbs, maintaining space with anchors (places to leave a player to listen for footsteps and rotations), midrounding off information, etc... Even with these guides, I believe my team lacks a solid understanding of the basics of the game, and being able to understand and explain more of the fundamentals would be great as an IGL.

Hey, mini here (we missed this). I think the initial plan was to capitalize on the release of Premier for those thirsting for the more advanced Playbook shenanigans. In the "down-time" we'll of course be trying to round out the content, we are well aware there's quite a high expectation of skill to implement this stuff but we're hoping that it might still give a clue into how things might be done in a professional team. The suggestions you gave are a good and we appreciate it. We'll probably do a poll soon to see what the general vibe is with our content so far and what people might want more of (whether that's more of the same or not) / less of. That kind of content may just be video content, we'll have to just figure out what we release for public-facing (i.e. Youtube) or Patreon (patreon uploads).

What would you guys say is a good distribution of practice time? As in, how much time should we be dedicating to server work/vod review compared to scrim time?

When starting your own playbook or comps? where do you typically begin?

i (coach) got a team made of ascendants and low immortals. I myself am not a high rank in game and dont quite know how to get this team to a better performance. Synergy is very strong, all players come along really well. Bootcamp opportunities are also given by the club we're a part of. What do you guys think would be the next step for us? we smashed last premier, had a bootcamp what went well and really want to get better, but i feel like player performance is the biggest issue and i cant really help the players with it. (How to increase player performances throughout the roster?)

Hello guys, I need to know how can we defend on site A after doing Aggro A from Playbook p18 (there is round with) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HfICS_D6IIPhtfPmqWSaz4rUlpuuafko/view?usp=sharing

Hey mini here, I just watched quickly with no audio. But it seems Raze is overcommitted on rubble with no escape option. Raze needs to be ready to fallback here in situations where they are left alone (especially late round where the attack needs to still take a LOT of space to get to A or B(split)).

how to counter teams/mixes who are just playing +w and doing random moves? I think answer on this question could be very valuable for new(-ish) teams who try to build structure and good macro but keep getting beaten during tournaments by random teams who are just strong individually

Hey, mini here. This is such a good question that I thought I'd give a sense for an answer now (because it'll take a while for us to get through the FAQ in the way we want to do it!) One thing you need to note straight away is that at a "lower level" the skill difference between teams you are playing regularly might be quite high; so a team that is seemingly +Wing onto you will still win if they are better individually BUT you can close the gap easier with structure/macro. There is also a teething period when adding structure where sometimes it feels you might have performed better without it, but the key thing is to grind through that period and keep assessing the structure as a team. The structure won't be perfect and may be restrictive when you start. The last thing I'd note is that you should change your style when playing against these teams. Against a team that is just +Wing there is no point of using early info cycling (recons etc) and instead want to hold that util for when they come to you. Playing not to get picked off individually (stay in pairs), often in a slightly more passive way is usually a good plan. OPing is also a great counter to this style. Overall it can be frustrating, but as long as your team is bought into the system and you keep evaluating it together, it SHOULD be the most consistent route to building a team.

How important to you both is comfort/preference vs optimal-ness when deciding agents in comps? I imagine for us premier plebs, playing the agents that we enjoy and excel playing is better but where do you draw the line in pro play?

What would you guys consider the fundamentals of team play and how do we improve and them?
