How to paint transparent fabric on miniatures (free lesson – worth revisiting)
This is a lesson I made about six months ago, but since the Patreon has grown a lot recently so I wanted to reshare it here.
In this video, I break down how I think about painting transparent fabric over skin on miniatures:
how many layers you’re actually looking through,
how close the fabric sits to the skin,
and how treating fabric as its own volume and texture is the key to making the effect read in the end.
It’s one of those effects that may look intimidating at first and that’s exactly why I wanted this lesson to be available to everyone.
If you’ve ever avoided sheer cloth, veils, or translucent materials because they felt “too advanced,” this video is meant to give you a clear mental framework for those effects you can reuse on future models.
The model I'm painting here is a fantastic sculpt by Owlsome Creations. If you would like to paint this bust and support a great company check them out here:

If you enjoy this kind of structured breakdown, most of my longer, step-by-step paint jobs live on the paid tiers but this one is completely free, and a good place to get a sense of how I teach.
I hope it’s useful

What colors are you using
In this video I use Kimera and a few from Golden SoFlat. I cover that in the full lesson you can see for free :)
