Why Green Skin Fails (and how to fix it)

A lot of painters assume green skin is hard because of color theory. It's too yellow. Too blue. Too saturated. Too dull. But in my experience, that’s rarely the real issue.

Most green skin fails because the values aren’t doing the work.

If the light side of the face and the shadow side aren’t clearly separated in terms of value, no amount of glazing, color variation or texture will save it. Which is why we'll continue the focus from the last lesson: big volumes before small details.

In today's video I'll show:

  • How I approach light and shadow using 3 simple colors.

  • How reds and oranges can be used to bring life into green skin once the values are in place.

  • And how small volume details only start to matter once the big shapes work.

If you’ve ever felt like your green skin is almost working but never quite gets there - this lesson is made for you.

The full video is available to paid members, along with all previous lessons and the Discord.
