Bonus video - Recapping Stranger Things from memory
As promised, in preparation for my scripted video, I sat down and tried to recap every season of Stranger Things from memory. You can actually see the will to live draining from my eyes the deeper I get into the series! Spoiler warning for everything obviously!!

Fun fact, my primary school science teacher was also named Mr Clark. I guess there’s a lot of them around
My favorite teacher in high school was a Mr. Clark!
this is so great because i only watched up to season 3 all the way back when it came out so the first half of this video was me going "omg i remember that!" and then the second half i was just hit repeatedly over the head by the most insane information. also very excited to hear your takes about byler because as an outsider it was so obvious to me that it was never going to happen and i took a bit of admittedly self-satisfied pleasure in laughing at the ensuing fandom crash out.
I haven't watch this show since S2 but enjoyed this recap. Looking forward to hearing more about Mike's receding hairline in your next video!
my experience of stranger things was filtered almost entirely through joyce being my favorite character / blorbo so most of what was going on in the fandom didn't interest me. and after watching her get yelled at by hopper for 2 seasons in a row i just tapped out
he's such a douche to her and El starting in season 3!! it was really hard to get over on my rewatch
Thank you for pointing out that 18 months is really long for a time skip because when they revealed that Max was still in her fucking coma after almost 2 years all I could think about was the absolute mountain of medical debt her mother must be dealing with
i got swept up into the s4 hype because i decided to cosplay chrissy and made a bunch of good cosplay friends through this experience - like, as an adult! post-covid!! i rewatched it after the fun died down and i find eddie to be a fun character, but ultimately exhausting. i think someone in these comments has already mentioned this video essay exploring an alternate season 4 with eddie arc being given to jonathan/steve and i really liked that concept!!
great video! geniuenly did not remember that the california stuff and eddie were in the same season?? As an eastern european watching the plot go from the small scale 'damn the Us goverment is kinda fucked up huh' to marvel ass 50 underdeveloped idiotic characters with nothing to do and red scare shit turned me into the joker. everything surrounding the production of this thing is like so bad the spin offs to a story that should have ended at season 1, the zionism, the fact that the creators seem uninterested in storytelling as an art form AND THE FACT THAT THEY APPARENLTY MADE A 14 YO HAVE HER FIRST KISS ON CAMERA EVEN THOUGH SHE TOLD THEM SHE DIDNT WANT THAT? Cant wait for the video!
Noah Schnapp went to my college and made the "Zionism is sexy" pins in my favorite coffee shop </3 in a weird way this was very educational, as I had no idea his character was so meek when I met him. In hindsight it's probably really weird to grow up being known for being a gay teen victim (am I getting that right from the recap..?)
I now feel completely vindicated about giving up on the show in the first season. It's exhausting just to hear about it.
would love to contribute to a fundraiser via your video 💖
Misc thoughts: The lost sister episode was actually a backdoor pilot to a spin-off show about Kali that got scrapped - probably the right call, though she deserved better than being bullet fodder after suicide-baiting El. Good on you for not falling for the industry plant that is Eddie Munson; there's a smart video essay on how S4 could've been vastly improved if he didn't exist and his storyline was given to Jonathan instead. And yeah, I too am a Byler sympathiser while also being savvy enough to know it was never happening. If we can't even get our dumb firefighter ship off the ground, what hope can we hold for Netflix's darling? I will say that they very easily could have if they wanted to; by the end of S4 Byler was the path of least resistance and they had to expend more narrative effort shooting it down than going for it. Anyway, great recap, can't wait for the big one. Friendly Space Ninja is also dropping his any day now so hopefully between the two of you my psychosis can finally be purged.
"Industry plant Eddie Munson" 😭😭😭 I've seen that video come up on my recommended but haven't watched it yet (I tend to avoid videos about topics I'm working on so as not to get distracted) but I want to eventually. I get fans who are into him purely for the fanon they've made up for themselves, but in the show itself I just find him kinda extra and cringe. And again, the closeness with Dustin feels like it's all forced into like one episode right before he dies.
I was so expecting you to make a Wrong series reference when Joyce goes "you messed with the wrong family" before killing Vecna, it made me immediately think of you when I was watching
I forgor 😔 but yes it is iconic that the finale was cliche enough to include a line worthy of the Wrong series
you can tell this is from memory because the earlier seasons are short and broad strokes, and get more detailed the more recent it is lmao
I mean I rewatched all of them shortly before this! I think it's more that the early seasons are simple and don't require listing every detail to make sense, while the later ones are soooooo convoluted and plot-heavy
it would be so funny if you ended your stranger things video with a callback to vivica a. fox saying "i HAVE seen stranger things"
Things are about to get stranger
You're so right about Will's acting in the early seasons. He's so incredibly compelling. It's a shame about the......... everything else later
You have no idea how excited I am for this yippee!!
the way i just logged onto patreon like "i wish jane had a new upload" and when i refreshed this appeared! kismet
