Render feels off? Try these tips!
Hey!! šCrash here :)
Sometimes, Iāve felt that somethingās missing from my renders⦠but itās not a character or another object.
If youāve ever been in the same boat, it can be REALLY hard to identify what the issue is; it often doesnāt have anything to do with the actual scene.
The problem might lie in your rendering setup!
And luckily, itās often a quick fix. ć¾(ā¢Ļā¢`)o
One of the first things I found that TRANSFORMED my renders was the 3-point-lighting approach. āØ
Using 3 separate lights at different positions can COMPLETELY change how your character looks and will really set the mood of a scene.
The best part? You can emulate a key light and fill light in your texture alone! No physical lights needed :)
Bloom often gets a lot of flack for how it makes everything harder to see and blown out, but itās really not as bad as itās made out to be!
In the right circumstance, bloom can really soften a render and give it a dream-like quality; something some of my FAVORITE artists do that makes their own art stand out and feel like a 90s animeā¼ļø
You can always configure how strong it is and have TOTAL control over it, it WONāT take over your entire render.
Another super simple fix I employ in my renders is adjusting the color profile to Standard so that my colors are accurate.
While it sounds complex, itās worth it to go through the different options if your scene feels washed out or too dim. āØ
In some cases, it can make blown-out lighting a LOT less extreme and offer a unique look other color profiles lack.
It can take seconds to fix, despite having a HUGE impact on the final render. š®
It can be rough to identify issues with your render; but by playing around with different setups, itāll get easier to figure out why your render might look off! š
