Episode 8 - Progress Report #4
Hey everyone
I don't have too much to report this week, so I'll keep it short.
I'm still writing the last day of Ep. 8 currently, but I'm making decent progress. There are some scenes I'm not entirely happy with yet, but they'll get a rewrite soon, after I'm done with the first draft for the episode.
I also had to revisit some of my long-term plans for certain romantic routes that I made ages ago. I decided to make some changes to one romance path, and cut one other planned path entirely. The reasons were mostly just that they didn't really fit neatly into the rest of the story, and would have needed a lot of extra time and focus to develop. I'm very happy with the planned setup I have now, and I managed to eliminate some headaches for future plans where I wasn't sure how to execute them properly. All in all I think it's a good change that will benefit the pacing and focus of the story greatly. And before you start to panic: None of the already started romance paths got any cuts, and none of the main love interests got cut entirely either. I don't really want to go into more details now, since it'd be quite spoilery for what's actually to come. But, no need to worry. All is well 🙂.

Hi Morrigan, I'd like to ask you (without any spoilers) if you've considered developing the theme of Jane's disappearance, which you already mentioned in the first season during a dialogue in one of the dreams/nightmares in which Ashe speaks with The Other One. Out of all the main love interests I hope she's the one who lost scenes. Least interesting main "love interest" by far.

Good stuff. Maybe you’ve shared in previous posts, but I’m curious, as a new subscriber, what your process looks like. I imagine it’s not easy scheduling out both the writing, sound, and obviously visual art. Getting them all to sync up without going back and constantly editing must be a process your constantly refining.
I write the whole episode first. Then I create the new character models and environments. Then I do all the renders (which takes the most dev time). After all that, I do sound. And throughout all of it, I replay, test and polish everything. After sound is done, I finish up some smaller things (e.g. the story recap at the beginning of an episode). Then some more testing until everything is ready for the release.

You chose her too; she’s going to be one of the hardest ones to deal with because of Fiona. But honestly, I don't care what she thinks, since she was the one who started seeing our sister first without asking us.
