News & Marion-Related Poll (Minor Spoilers)
Hey guys! Let's start with a quick progress report before we dive into today's poll.
First off, we're making good progress on Marion's final chapter, which is shaping up to be another good candidate for splitting into two Beta builds like we did Grace's Chapter 3. Last week I distributed the draft build of the first half of Marion's final chapter among the team, so we will finish sketching assets and choreographing the sprites to have a build ready for Beta Testers around the end of the month.
For those not in the Beta Tester Tier, we also announced a new cheat code last week, bringing the total up to two! We've created a special Bonus Scene room for non-canon scenes created for special events (two so far), which can be accessed using a super-secret code :3 Be sure to check it out if you're in the Beta Tester Tier-- it's live in the most recent build!
And now onto the poll-- and possible spoilers!
We've alluded before that this chapter will include a milking scene (it would be criminal to feature a cow TF and not have one!). This begs the question, what should they do with all of Marion's milk?
On one hand... Marion looks cow-like, and is in the dairy business. Given the hard times they live in, there is an argument for adding her cow-like milk to the farm's yield.
On the other hand... Marion is very much not one of the herd. It might make her uncomfortable to put her own milk out there for consumption. Would you feel the same way?
The transformation genre sure does raise some thought provoking questions, haha! This poll has no end date, and we want to know how our whole player-base feels about this subject, so it's an open vote.

A little late to this one, have been away a while. And it seems we have a winner, I personally wouldn't think Marion to do this, I feel like she wouldn't be too comfortable with it.
We'll make sure there's a variety of options to let the player (and Marion) express their opinion on the matter!
I like the idea others have bandied about of having the milk have transformative properties on others! Whether that's shared with the Town, or just "private stock".
In that case the milk cartons had better be labeled "Handle with Care" :P
OK, to be a realist here, unless we are talking about supernatural levels of production I can only see Marion producing maybe a gallon a day tops. that would be about a 1/8 pound of cheese if they were lucky and if they wanted butter they would get one or two table spoons worth. they would be better off keeping it for personal use, using it to nurse an orphan calf or feeding it to any pigs. I know that is not romantic, sexy, or anything but it is practical.
That's really good feedback, and we definitely want to strike a balance between fanciful and realistic-- we'll definitely take this into account, or at least give some explanation if it turns out otherwise! Thanks!
Maybe its just sweeter and people start to buy more, it escalates into them needing more milk so with some persuasion she adds hers with your help.

I like John Swanson's idea. Not sell it but use it privately or use it as ingredients is so lewd . Milk Bathing. Wipped cream. Pancakes Dough. Butter. :P delicious!!
The possibilities are endless.
Food for thought is that selling food products that contain unknown and possibly unwanted contaminants without their knowledge has some real-world parallels with meat packing plants of the same era. (though obviously more benign than those)

I think the poll should have a third option to use it privately. I don’t think Marion would be comfortable selling it, and I don’t think she’d be comfortable throwing it out, but I can definitely see her setting it aside for private use. Whipped cream perhaps?

Turn Malcolm into the other race you've been hoping for on Twitter… How about turning into cows to boost dairy productivity? Also, I do not understand the story because I read it intuitively without translating through the game. I would like to convert it if I can unravel any text file, but I have no programming or translation skills. Ah... Since this question is also viewed through the translation site, the answer will look strange to others.
I'll see if I can create a text file that you can run through a translator!
I don't think it should be sold, simply because I don't see Marion being comfortable with lying about where it comes from, and I feel it would be out of character for her in general. That said, I wouldn't say no to an Easter egg where she accidentally gets the bottles mixed up and transforms absolutely everyone...

Why not both? It'd mean a branch story path sure, but this feels like a choice we'd make in-game anyway.

If we're talking about the final chapter then I don't see why we can't put in some transformative properties of the milk. Maybe the milk tastes great and is wildly popular, before some delayed effects are discovered. I think Marion's story could really end with a bang ;)

Maybe leave the subject of what they do with it intentionally ambiguous? I know that's not super satisfying but it will save a fair bit of time and that way you wouldn't have to deal with fleshing out the internal conflict in the world and could focus on other things. That being said, its a TF game and people drinking it could be fun...
Oh, totally agree that this is an ancillary decision! It'll probably mostly just impact some flavor text in the epilogue.
Marion is a magical creature. Her milk should have some special magical features too. Thats how i feel. If she is going to use it (selling it) then she should not mix it up with the normal milk of her herd. Maybe the milk got healing potential. Maybe it suits as a love potion/aphrodisiac. Maybe it transforms the one who drinks it. So many possibilities. The writers sure will find a good storyline.

This is an artistic decision best left to the writers.
We'll definitely try to write it in keeping with the tone of the story we've established so far!
Well, I’d say outright selling it would be kind of... Odd. Like, no one would know they were drinking cow person milk, and not the normal variety, and I feel like that thought might make Marion uncomfortable. But I do agree that the option 3 that everyone seems to be bandying about would be the best option. After all, it would be a shame to waste it, and there’s no harm in keeping a little of the ah, “premium product” for themselves, right?
That idea does seem to have some traction!
I'm not a fan of lactation, even though this makes sense in context.
We'll make sure the scene is optional in case the player wants to skip it!
Assuming drinking Marion's milk will have no side effects, I see no reason why she wouldn't sell the milk if that's what she wants.
Definitely a case to be made for that!

I think it would be a combination of the two. In that she would need to be milked and her milk is something that could be potentially sold to the citizens. But I do not think as she is that she would be willing to sell it. However, having it be something that he family and Malcom could consume and drink is another story entirely.

I'm with DC James above: Needs the 3rd option of keeping it in the family....The biggest plus: since she IS a Cow, she can supply their household with Milk, and the milk supplied by their herd could go to taking care of others, with zero repercussions on them, after all, they've got that taken care of, and if the town suddenly needs more, they won't be hurting. Just my thoughts on it....

I hate to be a party pooper -- but, wouldn't Marion be a heifer and not a cow? Heifers don't give milk because they haven't been pregnant yet...
But Marion is neither heifer nor cow-- she's her own magical, mystical thing!
I'm torn cause like really that would be a tough and wuld question, but like flooding the town with her cheese is the only way to go.
