Bleach Sketches (8/16/26)
I started reading Bleach again! And I'm redrawing some panels that stuck out to me. It's been interesting studying Kubo's early artwork and seeing it develop as the story progresses. (if you're curious, I'm currently on Chap. 80'ish).
I've seen some of the Bleach anime and even a good chunk of the new one too (I've been told there are whole story elements that are not in the manga). The anime never clicked with me, and I'm referring to both old and new. Honestly, it just kinda bored me. But reading the manga is a totally different experience!
I'm having this weird nostalgia for something I didn't really read back in the day. Bleach now gives me that feeling when I was reading the BIG THREE when I was younger (like DB, Naruto, OP, etc). A feeling I truly missed when I read most manga today. (And yes, I do read things other than shonen lol!) I just really like Kubo's style and the way he set's up scenes. Some characters just "drip with aura", as the youngin's say. It's also really fun to study it and to try to improve my art as well (especially when it comes to fights).
I'm still VERY early in the story, I haven't even gotten into the meat of it yet, I feel. And of course I'm dreading when it will hits "the shonen arc long slog." For now though, I'm just enjoying the ride! Let's see if the story will keep my attention til the end!

You're going to love the BLEACH manga for sure, even the TYBW anime cuz it鈥檚 more faithful to the source material and its animation is absolutely insane! I guarantee it! BYW if you make Bleach NSFW content could you please include Ichigo x Orihime ?! 馃ス馃檹馃挒
Excellent work. Orihime can protect me.鉂わ笍
This art looks amazing, i鈥檇 love to see NSFW from bleach in your style!
Rukia my first crush
Very nice work all around here!
Reading bleach as it came out I remember it feeling slow, but on a much later reread I was actually surprised at how good the pacing felt! As a finished work it feels a lot better since you don't have that whole thing of "nothing big happened this chapter and now I have to wait another week to see if there's any progress", enjoy the read!
Agreed! I felt the same way watching a TV show during it's second to last season. The season felt like it was going through the motions and getting repetitive. But now having rewatched it recently, it feels so much better to watch. The pacing doesn't feel slow when you know there's an actual conclusion.
These are really good!
Thanks!
Your thoughts echo a lot of my own when I read it many years ago! Odd to think it was over 10 years ago but I digress lol. The manga was one of my favorites, and after a few arcs I definitely felt it slowing down. I suppose a lot of shonen are bogged down by these sort of endless arcs and battles - I think Bleach suffered from that along with a few others. But the art and the character design is one of my favorites. I love seeing you draw the older stuff! What a nostalgia hit.
I just realized that Bleach ended 10 years ago and it's also the 25 anniversary since it debuted! Glad I'm not the only one with similar feelings, the art and character designs are so top notch to me. It really is driving me forward in each chapter. Popular shonen comics tend to hit that slog but I guess it's always bond to happen when creators are hitting those weekly deadlines especially back then.
Chad Mexican Japanese will always be the reason I think of bleach

The mangas pacing feels much better. Your art feels very early Kubo 馃憤
Thank you! I'm really digging Kubo's early art style more than I thought. I know it changes later on but it's fun to see that evolution evolve throughout the story.
